At the drags, 4th (overdrive) will never be used. The 3-speed auto is also lighter and likely stronger as it does not have the lockup converter (although some of the later 3-speed had them starting in 1982 if i recall correctly
The 4-speed auto comes out of 1983-up cars, no Sunny had them. Nissan, Mazda and Mitsubishi had them. There's a list of cars in the tech article
Also the 1200 3-speed is ultra light duty -- I don't know if it will hold up to an E15ET. For example 1st gear in the 1200 version has three clutch plates while in the L20 version it had seven clutch plates!
