early heads had the 9-bolt manifold gasket pattern
later they used the 11-bolt pattern
what it means is if you can use aftermarket manifolds
* some heads were drilled and tapped for both patterns but the stud hole was empty
* Datsun Competition explained how to drill the stud hole if necessary
