I was just giving praise to the new design as recently looking at an old 4.3 next to a vq35 I was surprised of the width of the VQ, its huge!!! and thats without the headers needed to let it flow well.
Its not all about power as some respect needs to be paid to the era of the car. I wouldnt put a chev engine into a datsun when Nissan has so many choices. Yet on the v6 side of things or v8 they are truly massive units that would take up too much in the engine bay where an A series usually sits there so sweetly.
No fan also of the older 4.3 and if it came to a datto the vg33 would be hard to beat for that period look.
VG33 with supercharger sitting with low adapter with no runners fed by a front sidedraft weber would be sweet. Dizzie replaced with DIS ignition etc.
320hp / 300lbs tq atw wouldnt be difficult in stock form running water injection. It really is the most important engine Nissan made and received the least recognition. When the DET and DETT version was released no car could really beat the old 300Zs and even today the fastest in a quarter is 6.1 seconds!!!! and much lighter than a 2jz.
