Nostalgic Restored Datsun 1000 | Subject: Nostalgic Restored Datsun 1000 by s13drifter on 2009/2/4 9:12:20
Hi All,
Unfortunately, and this really does kill me, but I have to sell my Datsun 1000. Alot of you will be familiar with the car, and I really hope I can find an enthusiast to purchase the car. This car would be a great buy for any one who has a 1000 that they think they will one day restore, or anyone who is into old cars that have had all the work done on them saving them both time and money.
I bought the car in 2003 off the original owner, at which stage it had 46,564 original miles on the. The original owner had never even used the boot or the backseat and the car was always garaged.
I drove the car grey as a daily driver for 2 years than restored it. Myself and another panel beater spent a combined 130hrs on the body, before it was in primer. If you were to pay for the paint job on this car it would easily amount $5000.
The trim is retrimmed in a nostalgic style similar to factory specs. The seats are both resprung and foamed, comined with ne carpet, headlining and boot trim I was charged $2500 for the trim.
I have spent many hours making bushes for non listed parts, rebuilt the steering and fitted lowered springs all round.
There are many parts on the car that have been acquired from other cars to make sure this car had the very best parts I could find, ie re chromed door handles, boot latch, polished NOS stainless door moulds etc.
The motor in the car was rebuilt 4000 miles ago professionally by Belconnen Engine Service. It is an A12 with a four speed and downdruaght weber, and makes 45rwkw, quite respectable considering most stock A12's struggle to make 10rwkw, the car is very tight and drives unreal compared to some of my other Datsuns.
I am after offers on this car but the must be reasonable, If someone is genuine or serious they can PM or ring me 0418 627 427. As I am sure it is obvious to most of you guys there is a lot of work in this car, and is probably one of the best examples in this country. Most of you can appreciate that to build a car to this level is a $10k proposition. I am after a far bit less than that but please no low ball offers of 3-4k.
Thanks all for having a look and please lets send Hazel (cars name) to a deserving home.
