Well the car is pretty much ready for roadworthy now, I had it towed this morning to my new house. I just have to reverse the thermo fan and then give it a few test drives.

The main time consumer has been moving house and organizing everything with that purchase, but the sump gasket on this gave me a few headaches. Firstly I ignored the tech wiki on datsun1200.com and did not use any gasket goo on the half rubber rings that go at either end of the pan, resulting in a slight leak from the rear one. So given that the cork stuff was a bit oily and all that I thought I'd spend a few bucks on a new gasket. This was my undoing, because 3 gaskets later I discovered that autobahn's cheap gaskets suck, Each one split down the cork for the sides, the cork was rock hard with no squash so if you left it really lightly tightened it leaked. So on each one I got the #OOPS#s and tightened them to something like 10nm, and they would just split right down the middle, I was quite surprised to see how slow the sump leaked with a huge part of the side open...

So after spitting the dummy a few times I got the original gasket I purchased from autobahn 6 months ago, wiped the oil off and whacked some RTV all over it and sealed it all up, this gasket was alot softer cork and has sealed really well, It was just annoying to have to pull out the crossmember/swaybar etc just to test it each go.

No progress on the L20B front as I am just too busy with work(upgrading charlotte st 110kV gas switchgear is seeing 60-70 hour weeks) and new house at the moment.

Hopefully I can book a lenient mobile roadworthy guy to come look at it in the next few weeks so I can get back on the road.

Awww yeah view from the kitchen :D
