dazza the 4.88 works well for me. a close ratio gearbox would be better to keep it on the revs but the 4.88 does well with the standard s14 synchro box. it pulls nice out of corners in 3rd and pulls hard all the way through 4th & 5th.
the old engine topped out at 205kph at 7800rpm (limiter) so this engine with a few more revs should see around 220kph but ill have to wait till i get to phillip island one day.
my diff has a kaaz lsd in it, i had trouble with my old 1200ute on the track with the standard hilux 4wd lsd centre could never get it to behave on the track but that could be down to car (ute) setup also
i reckon the hilux is a great diff with lots of ratio choice but prob not warranted behind an a15, they're heavy!
