Just a bit of an update. I ended up going with the angle grinder and a knotted wire wheel for stripping the wheel arches and underbody. Found some rust under the drivers side wheel arch where the firewall and wheel arch meet. Damn. Going to be a bugger to fix. Stripped all major areas underneath and while I was at it stripped the engine bay. Now I just need to get all the hard to reach areas with paint stripper and then spray in epoxy primer. Rust spot will then be repaired and new chassis beam and radiator support welded on.
