4N71B is a 3N71B (same gears and all) but with a middle section added for the overdrive assembly
The "duty" depends on the specs. For example: Turbo models have more clutch plates and larger clutch pistons, but are still labeled 4N71B Automatic
With the 3N71B, the 1200 version had 3 low-gear clutch plates, while the 280Z version had 5 plates to handle the higher torque
Some say L4N71B was light duty, but it actually means: * L4N71B - Lockup torque converter * E4N71B - Electronic-control lockup torque converter
