Sure, anything is possible with custom modification of the grille -- and some fabrication of brackets.

Main Forum:: differential
The 1200 sedans and coupe use H145 diffs. The ute's use H165 diffs. The inside diameter of the ute diff. is 20 mm larger, and uses a different housing. So NO you can not use a sedan diff in a ute without changing the whole assembly. Not a smart idea as the ute diff. is also stronger.

Main Forum:: rusty cam query.
Personally, I would try to find a cam regrinder in your area. Check with your local machine shops. They should have the means to reharden the lobes. Also, if nothing else, it's still good as a core to a regrinder, or you could have it reground to a different spec. Just remember that if you regrind an L series cam, you will need to use thicker lash pads.

With the rear coilovers what angle (if any) should i have the tops leaning inwards? Or no drama leaving them straight up and down?for a street car

Main Forum:: e16 crank
"well said john; the other problem i see, is the rod alignment to the middle of the piston pin (when bores are offset in a big way)for that big bore(80mm+). unless custom making a new crank to suit offset bores. $$$$"

Ernie I missed this but critically good point. In theory if the bores are say 83mm (using ca18de pistons with stock a15 rods or shaved ca18de rods as they have wider bid end) so 2 and 3 bores are offset inwards to suit this there is also a small issue with the combustion chambers but potentially bigger one for the mentioned conrod not aligned on the piston pin centre. Could this be remedied by using shaved Ca18de rods (133m and same big end bore as A series) but shaving more on one side than the other?

Max bore on some A15 engines with lots of meat is 79 to 80mm so for 1.5mm extra each side this would equate to 2-3mm offset inwards on both sides to fit the full sleeves? Im still salivating on the though of a 1775cc A series.

http://gasketstogo.com/quotations.htm look interesting

Main Forum:: CA18DET QUESTIONS
High lift and high revs dictates the need for heavier springs.
The ca18 engines are 25 years old with who knows what thrashing the springs have had.
I dont know that springs and retainers are needed, but I wasnt married back then, so I didnt need to be sensible with budget.
Ive only managed 188kw at 12 pound boost, but forged pistons, turbo, cams are designed for 20-25 pound boost.
