Can't believe it's been 9 months well progress has been slow as I am renovating a house that we bought.
It's back in the workshop on the hoist, Superfatto coilovers installed, R31 rear axle installed, brakes all hooked up but no fluid in yet Engine and g'box installed, inlet and exhaust still to hook up. No wiring sorted out but plans to rear mount the battery and possibly the ECU Here's some random photos

good question
we really need that. Somebody with an engine out of the car could measure it As far as I recall we only have two diagrams: * Flywheel & Gearbox bolt dimensions from Datsun * Block mounting dimensions also see Block Comparison : Dimension Maybe this will help (don't forget to add gasket thicknesses) * Cylinder head thickness is 74 mm * A14 block deck height is 204.1 mm * looks like 15cm from oil pan rail to bottom of sump

Great video from Hide's Channel. Turn on subtitles/CC auto-generated (then select auto-translate/english) In the video it is referred to as a "47" year car (Showa 47=1972) "cat" = car Has those cool Weds RACINGFORG wheels

I have the choke mostly working right for summer. Winter here gets down to -30C and summer gets up over 40C, and I end up fiddling with the choke settings a lot. But it's working well for warm trending towards hot, and I've been driving it about half the time, and it's so nice. The car gets 50% better fuel economy than my 2010 car that cost me like 6x as much, and every time I go out, someone says something about it, usually "hey what engine does that have?" and I get to tell them about how nicely the A14 has treated me over the years.

Hi there, this used to be the main spot to buy and sell stuff for 1200 in Australia, is this still the best option? I am getting out of rallying after many years and all things 1200 and have lots to sell.
It just seems very quiet here compared to the old days. Thanks Damien. I will put a proper advert up once I know the story.

These days I am using an A12.
The A15 is the easy button but for vintage races it bumps me into a class with several 2 liter cars. I'm pretty sure I could get a moderately tuned 1600cc A15 to around 120hp at the wheels but that still leaves me 60hp short of the 2 liter cars. I am building another A12 right now and I think it will be around 90hp at the wheels. I'm also going to a 5.13 ring and pinion. |
