more questions on stanza struts

Thanks for your info on the stanza struts Justin, but I still have a few more questions.
If I replace the lower control arm with the stanza one, this should give me more negative camber yes?, but will I end up scrubbing the insides of my tyers out - I don't race my car? Also
will the wheels sit further out and rub on the guards? (will I have to flair the guards if I shorten the springs - I have 185/65's on 6" mags). Last of all, I don't know much about
stanza's, so does it matter what year/model I get the struts from?

A14 or A15 are the way to go for sure if u want a power upgrade. Try and get one with an oval port head first. And u know that they can produce 170hp with the right work(like Andrews A14)
The A12 gearbox will bolt up no dramas. But i broke 3 of them with a mildly worked A15(tho burnouts could have contributed to that) Theres also a 5-speed box u can bolt to any A series
from the sunnys. Alltho these are DAMN HARD to find. I was lucky enough to buy a 1200 with a 5-speed allready in it. And if u do find one it will prolly be more than $500. Andrew used a
celica 5-speed with a bell housing from Dellow Engineering i think(correct me if im wrong Andrew) I dont know how much that costs tho. Hope this helps in some way.

I got all geared up about the J15 but now I know its crap I might look at finding an A14 or A15. I know I have asked this question before!:(
So what engine should I get? I want one that is easy to fit in (not to many hassles)and what sort of gearboxes go onto the engines. I dont suppose an A12 gearbox mounts
up?
I want as much power as possible (can anyone suggest setups) as later when Im older and have more money (im 17) I might rally it or seeing as im in Tasmania i might look
at Targa Tasmania 2001.
Thanks for any help
Simon

I need help with a simple brake swap.

I have a 1200 with late model 120Y struts (the bigger brakes) in my car. The struts are heavy duty lowered and l had them reconditioned
a few months ago.

What l need are larger brakes. Has anyone put say stanza/200B SX or any other brake assemblies onto a 120Y strut?

Can anyone supply me with simple conversion info on such...(on a budget of course!).

Thanx.

Stay right away from the J15 engines they came in the 1500 table top utes really old ones. They only have 3 main bearing caps and have a cast head from memory !! the A12 would
go better and last longer. I had a mate who worked in a wrecking yard & mechanical shop they where always keeping him in work either bearings wearing out or many other probs.
Stick with the A series can cop a floging and go better for longer.

I just wanted to thank all of you who took the time to respond to my post on the above topic. Thanks to you, I've now got a lot more confidence and info to tackle this! I think
a lot of really good info came out of this thread - a good example
of how a newsgroup is supposed to work. Thanks again - I've gotta go turn some wrenches now. I'll let you know how it went...Roland

Does anyone know what sort of vehicle a Datsun J15 (1483cc?)motor from 1978 is out of?
The reason I ask is a have spotted one in my automotive class at college. The only reason they have it is to demonstrate the internal camshaft and pushrods, so I was going to offer them
a couple of hundred dollars for it, OR if I can get away with it I will ask if I can swap their J15 for one of my A12 motors!
The only other problem I have come across is, seeing as I dont know what sort of car/ute its out of I dont know where I will get a gearbox from!:( I also need to get differnet parts for
it (bolt on bits like water pump etc).
I would love to fit it in my coupe so I can get more cubes :) and I would build it up to take twin webers or something! :)

Thanks for any help

Simon

I will take a picture and post it in the next few days. This is an original never used with zero miles
made for the 1200.

I've got an 1200 sedan A12 with auto and any driveline bits you want for free. Take it away. I've cut up the sedan for panels. I'm willing to send the mechanicals to a
good home. Including diff and tailshaft. Although the diff hasn't been removed yet. Even though the front has been completely cut up. I'm in Strathfield, Sydney.
Drop me an email and I'll give you some details.

How easy is it to install stanza struts into a coupe and what do I need to modify? Do I then need shorter springs to lower the front suspension? And last of all, is it worth
installing them - will I get better handeling?

Any info would be a great help, thanks,
Andrew
