I'd perfer the L18

in a 120Y a Z18ET is a 100% increase in power

hmm as it happens I do have a 120Y with no engine and gearbox...

shame I don't know where there are any 180B's near the farm... otherwise I'd be going that way rather than A12 and F4W60L

but also saying that the things that need to be changed/altered to fit an Lseries in a 120Y is not a small list

sweet 120Y/B210 coupe

I'm suprised how easy 120Y's go together...

in about 11-15 hours of work on my latest one - I'm (very roughly) about half finished...

it's fully suspended (just needs new wheelbearings
functional shockies and
swaybar link bushes)

it's also fully wired

has seatbelts seats and dashboard in it

it has all panels on it - however some of those are tempoary...

hwever the second half is always the hardest... as it's getting a new engine from a *VERY* rusty January '81 Sunny (B310)

they should be the same as a 60L 4 speed

by memory they are 12 or 14mm

someones a lucky bastard having a 60L 5 speed

I'd love a 5 speed but doing 90 km/h across a paddock is fast enough!

let alone the sever wallet pain to buy one
however I did have some good luck in finding a 60L 4 speed in one of my 120Y's!

it's going to end up in The Defect III

I think they are 17mm head

have no idea what the tread is

I undid the gearbox bolts on The Defect III with my wheelbrace

don't know about an early 120Y or 1200 wiring loom

but on a late (March '77) 120Y aussie 120Y the wiper motor wires and anti deseling switch (yellow wire) are in a 1 metre lead closest to the firewall - closest to the two rectangular pugs under the dashboard

then the headlight relay is on a short lead nearby

the horn wires are near the plugs for the indcators and parklights/under bumper indicators

I think they are green - 120Y's have 2 horn wires as they have 2 horns

I put a Sunny wiper motor (minus the arm that attaches to the wiper motor - as it's B310 specific) to a 120Y - it bolted straight up

I don't have a 1200 or 1200 ute but I'm guessing they use the same wiper motor

The (original) defect had a hotdog under the passenger seat too - it was about 75Db inside

I drove it without the hotdog muffler once(straight through system) my ears ached for hours afterward

planning some kind of sound deadening with The Defect III as I like my hearing

The Iron Maiden (black car) has that hotdog now and is relatively quiet - but apart from no carpet it's has a full interior

as for doortrims - don't bother about removing them the weight loss is not worth it...

lightening off the interior does nothing to make the car faster

it might if you had a Psycho A15 (125+ horsepower) it might help

I noticed when I stripped out the interior of The (original) Defect it felt quicker - probably because it was louder with no hoodlining

A14 77Hp
A15 80Hp
