actually very early 120Y's have H145's...

I have the H145 out of THe Defect III (replaced with a BW68) it did have auto Tranny fluid come out of it when I drained the casing - (I was going to fit my spare 3.889 H150B centre into it... as I didn't have a H145 manual tailshaft - TD3 was a 3N71B (3 speed auto) car

My July '74 120Y has boosted brakes...

The Defect (March '77)

The Iron Maiden (July '75)

The Defect III (July '74) - effectively a March '77 exept for brakelines, brake booster and master cylinder
and...
The Stock car - an australian late model 120Y - judging by it's PBR brakes

all of them have had or have boosted brakes

it could be that the base model aussie ones didn't have boosted brakes - and all the ones I have ended up with are the more upmarket ones...

The Defect had Jap struts combined with a BW68!

the compliance plate says it's a march '77 but the struts could have been swapped out some time in it's past...

he means infront of the radiator

late model sunny's are longer in the front than the early ones...

all sunny's have the same size engine bay...

the more aerodynamic front end of the late model Sunny would be better for everything

3.50 for a BW68...?

the only ratios I know for the BW68 are

3.889
4.10
4.30

the last two are not available in a aussie spec 120Y or datsun

they are KE30 BW68 ratios...

larger stub axle size, bigger balljoints

and these struts I have have an adapter to bolt the caliper to the strut...

the Jap strut caliper bolts straight to the strut...

ok I should have been more clearer - I think the struts on MY 120Y are PB210...

the gearbox in TD3 ended up being a F4W60L...

and the struts came off a 120Y that was a stock car...

so I don't know if the front end is something exotic or not...

I wish I knew the stubaxle size for PB210's...

as the struts I just put into the The Defect III were japanese manufacture... ie Tokico

they do have the larger diameter stubaxles too..

I also wish I knew the balljoint sizes for PB210's too

I am thinking thatn Aussie 120Y sedan suspension IS PB210 based...

no my struts are NOT for sale

*Bzzt* wrong

I have a July '74 120Y and it has boosted brakes

only 120Y's that do NOT have boosted brakes are the ones with Drum Brakes
and they came with a 3 speed colum shift manual and "Lung Puncher" (non collapsable steering column)

all of that is mentioned in the Gregorys service manual)

and all 120Y's have 4 bolt boosters as I spent enough time trying to get a manual pedalbox in place of an auto one on The Defect and The Defect III,so I got to notice that (the Iron maiden - black 120Y - is a factory 4 speed)

I have been rebuiding the front suspension on tht was out of my supposedly March 1977 120Y sedan... which I put under the front of my July '74 120Y

it has the PBR everything bar the struts - which are japanese spec...

was there a period where aussie 120Y's had jap struts,or has the Defect been Robbed of it's late model struts?

The Defect III was parked where I put it in these photos...

but it still needs to get the brakes working before it can be driven properly

in the background of the photo is The Defect whch most of was reshelled into TD3

the yellow car is the Sunny which donated it's engine to TD3

and the pink car behind the XD falcon ute is a 1954-56 Austin A50

which hopefully is the next project after TD3

plan is L18 and 63A 4 speed for it

thanks Dodgeman and Kelmo - I have been rebuilding my July'74 120Y since july last year

it's all done bar brakes and bodywork

the front suspension and brakes are somthing I want bigger and better than standard - which it is as I'm using the Suspension out of my March '77 120Y

but I'd like something similar or better than the PB210 style front end as it al ready has a Borg Warner 68 put in it last Week by me as I intend to eventually put an L18 in it...
