well all u may know me from my car being on this forum a few times. i drive a green 71 datsun 1200 coupe. Equiped with a ka24e with 45 webers, zx traney, 510 wagon rear diff with truck 4:38 gears. well.. i upgraded to a ka24de 16 valve with the early cams. pull hard up to 7 to 7500 rpm. ran 13.6 with no traction with slicks. when i did get traction with slicks i ran 13.2 and then BROKE MY AXLE ONCE AGAIN... hmm i have lost count. for my car only weighing in at 1655 man it sure breaks axles. I have a welded spider gear setup and it just is not holding up to this STOKE ka24de with 50mm mikunis. I need a stronger rear end. This means i must do a back half or 4 link setup with adjustable coil springs i presume. I hate having teh car down and not being able to attend a event because of a axle. What im gettin at is, does anyone have any sugestions on what route i should go ? ford 8.8 ? gm 8.5 ? 8 1/4 ? i mean i obviously have to get it shortend and custom axels most likely the 4 x 4.5 so i can still run my nissan wheels when i must. its hard to find out and see pics of 1200s that have been through this same process. im planning on runing 26x10x15 on it .. 15 inch rim 10 wide and 26 tall. I have a 2004 ford f-150 v6 heritage lsd rear dsic rear end at my shop from a totaled truck of ours .. but people say that rear end is to big and i can suffer power loss. well just let me know if u guys have any feedback or what not. thanks

RICH

well no I couldn't say that I have made a Datsun Special. When I was down in Vegas for a month my 510 traney blew and I had the hardest time finding somone out there. No one in vegas with datsuns it seemed like. I want to move out there and use the local drag strip but not sure about it. The vegas Z club like seems to no longer exist. I also have 2 Datsun 1200's I drag race. I have had ideas of putting a small 1600 engine on a go kart kinda thing. like a sand rail of some sort. well anyways u have any pics ? let me know
THANKS
Rich

well yes this is that same old green car from shasta .. but yes indeed it does look diffrent. maybee cause some honda prick smached into me .. so i tried my best to pull it out. i need a front apron and grill ... well here is a pic of my car and my 10:1 motor. includes knife edge crank balanced rods and pistons .. bored 40 over to make it 90 mm bore, valve released pistons, alum flywheel, ported head .. the works.. man its alot faster then that old stocker 8.5:1 motor that had broken rings in cylender 2 and didnlt have much compression lol .. and i still thought it was fast! u can just imagine now. well im off i will keep everyone posted on my body surgury to the 1200!

yes i have a sr20det front clip on the way. Im joining the airforce so im having a few friends hold on to my cars for me. hopefully when i get back i will bring a r32 with me or somthing. :) anyways yeah i love the ka power its really responsive. the sr20det built up with some bigger turbos would be really funny in a 1200.. i would wrather see NISSAN in 1200 instead of the dumb rotary powered ones. We dont need mazda power to get into 7s! GOOD LUCK WITH SWAP

Yup .. its so much fast now .. cant wait to get some new footage of it. the whole botom half i built up! Bored 40 over to increase from 89mm bore to 90mm with oversized stock pistons, new rings. I also raised compression a bit by decking the head. I also put valve release in the pistons for the big cam im running. knifedge crank, lightend flywheel, underdrive pullies, ported and poslished my head and portmatched manifold and also a must SOLID LIFTERS "Have had since begining because i was dropping valves when hydrolic lifters failed at high rpm." soon will try my 50mm in place of my 45mm! u will all soon see the wrath! ALSO im currently in proccess of building a 80 over motor with 91 mm bore / pistons. nissan dont make these so im going with a different piston i found that will work .. going to have to mod the head gasket also. Had a stroker crank made for it .. so it will go from 2.4 stock to 2.7 stroked! :)

U all may have seen my car at shasta and other pics that have been submitted. Here are 3 drag race runs i have on my computer before car was lowered and flared. I also just built the bottom half to 10.5:1 with ovrsized pistons, knife edgded crank everything balanced, ported head and a CAM. the videos u will see are of a stock ka24 with 45 webers, 280zx traney, and 4:38 spooled rear end.
