*BIG SIGH* this stuff never comes up in Perth!!! I cant believe youre all whinging about how hard it is! If i was a few thousand kilometres closer id cross a border to get it! This makes me sad... dont suppose anyone owns a truck that happens to do trips across Australia every now and again??

I was talking to a mate of mine who is a mechanic lastnite and I was asking him about working my A15 to make it ballsy. He suggested that the money i would spend on working the A15 would be better spent converting to a 4AGZE or CA18. Ive never really had much to do with conversions but have always wanted to do one. I have very little mechanical experience but am not incompetent. Eg i can remove engines, change clutches remove diff centres but cant rebuild engines etc. I am also on a limited budget. Say..... $2500. Is it worth the trouble? My mate says all he used to do was conversions and he could give me a hand to do the hard stuff. Is it possible to get an engine in and running on this budget and then slowly over time as money becomes less of an issue upgrade brakes, fuel system etc? I really dont know and could use some advice. I really really have always wanted to do a conversion but do you think its an unobtainable goal for me at the moment?

it all seems too hard.. i might just get the guards rolled a bit. I have a ute so doors and stuff wont be in the way. I only need it done because i just bought new panels for the rear from the back of the door to the tailights and they arent flaring the guards at all. so i need something. any ideas besides the two i have already come up with?

hello people. i have some gearbox questions. firstly how do i tell the difference between a datsun short and a datsun long gearbox? i think this is a 1600 thing but hopefully someone knows. secondly how do i tell if a gearbox is any good just from a visual inspection (its not in the car) is this possible? and finally whats the availability of the R160 and R180 diffs like? Thanks

Thankyou for your input. I will give second thought to the bluebird struts and endeavour to acquire some 200B or R31 Struts; whatever comes first i suppose. Feel free to keep adding to this post if you remember any new information. Thankyou.

Greetings all

i need help, i am desirous of replacing the 120y struts in my 1200 ute with a nice big set of bluebird ones. This is because i am replacing the rear drums with nice big bluebird discs I have read on the site that if i dont upgrade the front i will have locking up problems. So, you see my dilema. Has anybody here successfully completed this operation? What parts can i use off the bluebird and the 1200? will i need parts from other random cars? will i need to make custom parts? Is there a 1200 ute bluebird front strut conversion guide for dummies? can i retain the 120y struts and just change discs? Help Help Help...... Thankyou.
