how about two strips of that "paint friendly" masking tape (i think its the blue one) down the side of the car and then paint the gap in between them?

Yeh DIY is the way to go, Ive retrimmed all the dashs in all the dattos ive had. Its really not very hard at all. bit of vinyl, bit of glue, hot air gun and your laughin. I cant stress how easy this is to do.

Hiho does anyone know where i can spare panels for the ute in perth? ive tried nispart datpart and rare spares to no avail. ive heard that a place somewhere over near morley does panels but i dont know the name. anybody familiar with it? even if anyone knows a 1200 at a wreckers would help. cheers people

Yep its dellow engineering, they can be found at http://www.dellowauto.com.au/main.html
they charge about $600 for the conversion kit then about $150 for a yoke and new rubber mounting. The 5spd you want is out of a celica or corolla, dellow do rebuilt boxes for about $700 i think. They are known as the 2T and 3T gearboxes. have fun.
