Thanks must go out to JMAC for offering to sell me a pair of 1200 ute axles.
JMAC sold them to me for a very resonable price and organised freight from his end.
Thanks again JMAC, as I know you would have had to go to some trouble and effort to help me out.
This is what this forum is all about, people helping people.
Thanks

Geoff

Howdy,
I have a spare diff centre and am hoping it won't be to hard to change the crown and pinion over so I can keep my 4.875 ratio.

Thanks to your help I think this is what it is:

1978 Datsun 1200 ute diff with a H165B centre (4.11 ratio in australia)
Nissan can supply me with new axles, Ex Japan

shaft assy-rear axle part # NI-38162-G1000 $359.05 Each

It's good to know they are avaliable new, but for that price I might keep
looking for second hand a little longer.

Cheers,

Geoff

Where are you? country would be a good start,
state would be even better.

What is the car to be used for?
Road or Race.
Is it to be road registed?

How much are you willing to spend
will decide on what cage you can get.

Howdy,

I have a H165 diff in my 1200 coupe and I have spun the spline
out of the diff centre carrier and off the end of an axle.
So I now need to hunt down a centre and an axle.

The question is what car / ute / van is the diff out of?

This is what I know. . . .

H165 centre
Diff width. Drive flange to Drive flange = 1340mm
Axle length. Drive flange to end = 645mm (both the same length)
Axle splines = 23

So does this ring a bell with anyone?
Does anyone know what it is out of?

I would like to be able to go to the wreckers
and give them a Model and year.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Geoff

Howdy,
Here is what you are looking for.
Yes they are an Australian company,
and I don't know if they they export
to Canada/US.

They are a well made rim and might be
worth a private import?

Cheers,
Geoff

Howdy,

My 1200 coupe runs a FJ20 with twin 45DCOE Webers.
I had the exact same problem,

I did the swirl and surge tanks and
Two new fuel pumps and
larger fuel lines and
fuel pressure gauge and
new soft mounts for the webers and
on the dyno every thing was perfect but
it still would choke and missfire as if running
out of fuel in tight corners.

The fix in the end (and yours might be different)
was to find someone who really knows webers,
I mean really knows them!

I was not sure weather i should spend my
money on this guy as he was expensive and I
asked myself why should I, the car runs perfectly
in a straight line, the carbs must be setup fine
already, Right?

Wrong!!!

I'm no expert, and from memory all he seamed to
do was adjust the float levels and open up the
air bleed jets (I think that is what they were).
He had a series of number drills and went up one
size at a time.

Anyhow, long story short.

It gained 6 Kilo watts and 500 rpm and has not
missed a beat since and this will be the start of the
third season of racing with this set up and it has
only needed minor adjustments (mainly balance/linkage)since.
Best money I ever spent on the car.

Webers are becoming "old school" and not everyone is an
expert anymore. most younger dyno guys can only tune a
car if it plugs into a laptop.

Cheers,
Geoff

Great to see electric cars.
and by no means am i knocking it.

But the dude who owns it does seem to
be kidding himself a little by
saying it is polution free.

In Australia most of our electricity
is generated by coal, oil and gas.
Electric cars will never be polution free
until the electrical generator source is.
The polution is just being produced away
some where else.

Out of sight . . . out of mind.
