The coil is basically a transformer. Main input is 12v DC pulsed, (the two low tension wires connected to the lugs either side of the high tension output), the secondary outputs a higher voltage required to jump the air gap of the spark plug as 12v is not enough.

Hope that makes some sense.

Hi, I had a clutch kit come new with a defective driven plate. Did the same thing.

I assume you had the flywheel machined as well?

Just want to add to the messages of thanks to Mal for his wonderful magic electronic dizzy. Was having massive problems trying to find an ignition fault. Got it from Mal installed it and my A15 burst into life straight away.

Easy to install and worked well even with crappy old leads and plugs.
