admittedly, the ten ichers don't look too pretty sticking out the side, should be some pics if you follow my photos (with the 10's on). Our "sportcompact" rules have just come up with the idea that you have to have some sort of flare covering the tyre or you don't get to race. Some neat pics on www.sportcompact.co.za, lots of datto 1200s

Yeh, still leaf rear (with flares & with caltrac bars only recently), I'll try dig the old pics out and post em. Maybe our 1400 utes are slightly different to the Aus 1200.
Do you guys have a Drag Racing rule which says that the tires mustn't stick out the sides? Or do you fall into a diff class if you use bigger than 8,5? curious

Strangley enough, an 26/8,5 x15 m/t slick does not stickout of the side - if you have the correct offset rim

No, 8,5 actually not too wide, but 28 will be too high on standard height rear leafs. I ran 26-8,5 x 15 M/t for many seasons with no probs. I don't know of any manufacturers that offer 28-8,5 x 15 rear slicks, but 26-8,5 x 15 will look & work great. With the correct offset rear rim, we now run 26-10 x15 M/T no probs, do stick out a tiny bit though.

I've been using Koni coilovers SPA1 90/10 , that were meant to fit a toyota hilux/tundra but were tweeked by the local koni guys to fit on my ute, running 185lbs springs at the mo (drag race only setup) which still seem a touch hard. Can't say there is a great difference between them and the "stock" gas shoxs with lighter springs I used to run, but then again we run on an unprepared (non-tracbite coated) surface here.

Where did you mount the lambda sensor?? just after the extractors/collectors come together is a good place. I've also got the innovate wideband, but the portable handheld, not the dash mount one, and I've had it in many carb fed cars, plus my own turbo drag car. The signal tends to bounce around if you have an airleak in your exhaust ahead of the sensor or if your sensor is not at optimum temp. (is your heater wired in and working?) If you mount in the tailpipe end, it also bounces around at low rpm due to reversion back into the exhaust between pulses of gas

Had a go against a S55 Mercedes other day from robot to robot. Guys wife/girlfriend in the passenger seat was laughing and pointing at my ute parked next to em at the lights. Held him first thru second and dumped my foot down in 3rd to wheel spin past him on 0,9 bar boost. Next robot/stop and they wouldn't even look at my ute again! LOL

Yeh, sway bar, thats the correct name, but is there any benefit to not having it in for a pure drag car? Anyone done a before and after test on this?
