hey paul - long time no see! how are u? i have moved back down to sydney and have been getting on with life after G fever.
I think that the vapour lock thingy may have been the problem - because i put a bit of wd40 in the hole the first time cos the thread looked dry - the second time i got all
the excess liquid out, and it tightened up.

Hows Bec doing?

Linc.

i have been trying to put the head back on, but the front right head bolt hole seems too shallow, by maybe 3-5 mm. why?all the bolts (except the long one on the left) are
the same length. could there have been 2 washers on this bolt? could the thread on the block be stuffed?
I measured the depth of all holes with a screw driver, and most were the same, except for the front right one. i dunno.

Help, i need to drive it soon.

Linc

Hey everyone - i have been in the process of moving over the last weeks, and have managed to survive the absence of cyber dat chat by pulling the head off my faithful sunny, IN MY SHED!!!
I FINALLY HAVE A SHED!!! It doesn't rival teretongas one though, as he has a BBQ in his shed (and i think 4 1200s)...But give me time.
I had a shitter of a time last week, but I'm glad I'm not in the USA! I was at the WTC a few years ago, and they were truly astonishing! I cant help but feel for the loss of life more than
the loss of a few buildings though.
So whats been happening in this little oasis called the datsun 1200 club? I can only cope with going over the last hundred messages...too much.
Anyhoo, enough rambling - I am doing a few performance mods to the sunny, like stroking the engine - it didnt do anything, maybe you have to have the engine running when you stroke it... i
dunno - Im also porting and polishing the ashtray.
cheers, Linc.

ps i know it is a sore point for NZ'ers, but BLEDISLOE CUP!!!!!

Are you going to keep the rocker cover stock? Too many people forget about this crucial element of a "hot" motor...
Chris can steer you in the right direction, he can give your details on simple mods, right through to a hard core fire breathing rocker cover.
I have gone for the sleeper look on my A15 - From the outside the rocker cover looks stock, but inside there is some serious weaponry!I cant say too much, cos chris has the
international patents...

Hey chris, i have been toying with the idea of a hornet style scoop for the rocker cover on the sunny, but Im worried that the drivetrain wont keep up - can i fanta inject
the gearbox or diff?

I reckon dont bother using an Ezeout - as they are a scam. well maybe not, but i have never had one work...but maybe if u were to heat the area with a torch, or drown it in wd-
40, or some other thing, u may be able to use an ezeout.
Or u could just drill it out, and retap the hole.
What if u were to weld a plate over the old holes, drill and tap the new plate( with holes inthe chassis behind it) and use that as the new mounting point? i dunno....
good luck - Linc.

PS is it a 120Y bar? if not, get one. they are about $10 - $20, and better than a 1200 one.
