Decided to start a build thread, this is my daily car atm and work is limited to weekends as i have to drive it every day. at this stage i'm busy fixing up a few odds & ends. for now i have fitted an electronic dizzy, twin su carbs, a 4-1 branch and 57mm freeflow exaust and new tires. next is the nissan carpet i bought from a scrapyard as it has a toyota 1200 carpet in atm. this build is long term project

this could be the reason why my gx coupe didnt run all that good, the head was milled and i took another 1mm off the head, had a 1400 bottom end, 1200 flywheel, twin su carbs and a 290 degree camshaft. i don't want the same problem on the ute, i want to build something that will run good on street without problems. so i guess rather just use the same cam, maybe cut a 1200 flywheel and just do bigger valves on the gx head?

the guy i sent the h75 to made a mess of the ports and i'm not willing to modify the su intake manifold as these are more rare than a gx head. i will get a set of flat tops, the mazda 1.6 pistons works as far as i know, just need to modify the conrod to make it fit on those. thanx for the info.

the h75 I had didn't turn out that well, so i got hold of a complete gx head, i'm going to fit the h75 valves as they are larger than the gx ones. how much must i mill off the head for a good streetable compression? would 10.5:1 or 11.0:1 be fine on normal lrp 93? the cam is standard a14 atm, but my profiled cam will be back in about 3 weeks.

look at ddgonzal's reply in the a-series newbie thread. he says that a stock a15 short block will rev 8500 rpm

i saw on a thread that the stock a15 can rev 8500 rpm. does is have factory double valve springs or tighter single spings than the a14 or is the cam profile different than the a14?

i've started out with the branch and freeflow, did the weber carb coversion, not enough power yet, so i got hold of an already ported end flowed h75 head, would these with modification work as well as the gx or h89 head as i would like to use the h75 head because it's already worked? i will be getting a cam cut before fitting the head
