really? more power stock from the CA? i would have never known that. any knowledge of the bottom end myth?

im unsure of the laws now, but have seen a couple 1200's kicking around with SR's in the past.

Ok, originally the plan was to fit a CA18DET into my 1200 coupe. After spending a few dozen hours researching half cuts on the net, and having not as much luck finding an abundance of CA's as what id like. as of late, my thoughts of instead doing an SR20DET conversion are sounding soooo much sweeter.
Some reasons being,

Availability of SR engines and parts,
The SR's look tidier in the engine bay,
Power output is marginally higher.

Among others of course. I have also heard rumours around the way, that CA bottom ends arent so crash hot???

can anyone give me ideas on what they have experienced or heard for that matter on both the upsides and downsides to either engine????

also, difference between red top SR's and black top SR's,
one has variable valve timing am i correct? so therefore upgraded cams and adjustable gears cannot be fitted??

hey all, just curious as to what times i could expect from my coupe when its done. plan is to have a ca18det, microtech, injectors, exhaust, front mount and intake. after a basic tune etc. im sure someone will have a simillar setup and be able to give me an idea. i just dont want to have to cage it, which i dont think will happen.

cheers josh.

im unsure what type of box i will be using, im still waiting on approval for the conversion before i spend any money on a half cut. what box would you recommend? i got given a bunch of 120y datsuns today and free roam of any parts i want. one of which is an auto. also a 1200 ute been dumped, its got bigger brakes and struts under the front so i think they are coming home with me. hey with suspension and brakes what are you using? also what is the go with seat belts, id like to install retractables but i think mounts will have to be made? any knowledge of that sorta thing?
