The suspension setup (4 link with adjustable watts link) I want to run I have spoken to engineer and he wasn't keen on signing off on it. There is nothing illegal about what im doing and it is a passable modification but he basically put it in his too hard basket as the category the ar will then go in is totally different to his initial assessment. 'Go and see if another engineer will help you' after taking my money was even mentioned. There has been many inconsistancys in the engineering (same guy) over the Datsun community with what's good and what's not. I did discuss with him what will be on the report in regards to the r31 diff on leaf springs that's already completed and under my ute and if changing to the 4link once certified and I got a smile and said 'well yeah what happens after i do final inspection is then out of my hands' . Il get it passed with one diff and then change it out...il be sending diff housing to engineering fabricator to get shortened and axles done soon. (Club rego is more looking like a viable option with this car)

Thanks for the feed back guys. My guards have been rolled so I most likely will go with factory length and have wheels made to suit. The intended wheel to go on are Xxr 513's its not ideal to get them now as its quite a but of money to then have sit around till project is finished. O agree it is the best way of calculating length perfectly. Again thanks for your input people.

Thanks Ange. That gives me a startin point and knowledge of what will work with the Ti wheels. The car will be set up with Ti wheels and at a later date il get some rims to fill guards. Il send you some progress pics tomorrow via txt mate. Still have mastered uploading here haha Once ute is in paint il get a photo bucket file of build

Thanks for your input townie, I do need it to be legal but I am getting car engineered so its not the issue I don't think. I want to run the widest wheel possible (16x8 rears if I can get it in there) so with out having wheels yet I don't know what length to start at. The wheels il get to suit at a later date but its hard to do one with out the other as I'm finding. Sorry if i seem a little stumped here....I don't even know stock length.

Hey guys, I am currently getting a r31 diff sorted out and soon take it to be shortened. The question I have is, what's people's experiences with lengths? I have a set of TI wheels (from a little green ute a member had) so not to sure what the offset of those 15inch wheels are. I won't be running leaf springs on the diff to be shortened so the limiting factor is chassis rails. I am thinking 16 will fit nice (one day) Can anyone with experience and suggestions as to length please feel free to voice here. Thanks for your time guys. *project is coming along nice now...off to panel beater in a couple of months, then it's on.
Thanks Rhys

I still have a few things to go on my ute before any hill climbs but I am hanging to give that track a go once I get all the parts together. From the Video footage I have seen it looks like a great day out in a Datsun. Good luck and get some footage.... Is your turbo and tune all sorted now mick?

I have a Ross unit. It wasn't a cheap item but in the end it's what was wanted and needed. From Ross they don't do a single unit.....they use a twin pully unit they have and machined it down. After this their warranty is void as they have gone away from the original. The balancer is NUTRAL balanced anyway so the harmonic ballancer that some motors depend on for viabration reduction isnt in a ca18 from the factory. If there are by questions ring Ross direct.
