I've just had some brakes built for me by Kev Rowley here in Brisbane that I'm very happy with. They are 120Y front struts with Silvia rotors and calipers mounted onto them with a 10mm plate. Even with my ute still having the rear drums it pulls up very quickly without any fuss. Being late model parts you can easily get aftermarket slotted rotors, kevlar brake pads etc.

I've just fitted a set of R31 Skyline steelies as well. They are a good width for such a light car. I hate cars that are overtyred! I've had a set of Falken Azenis Real Sports 175/60 R14 tyres fitted to the rims and the grip is fantastic!

The polariser was a container with crystals in it that, from memory, sat on the back parcel shelf. Brockie and his wife were under the influence of a `guru' who convinced them that these `magical' crystals were a `cure all'. The polariser was supposed to make the car better in every regard by `aligning' everything so that it all worked in harmony.

Brockie's refusal to drop the very controversial polariser from the HDT cars led to 2 versions being produced. One had the crystals and Brock's signature the other was sold without either. Shortly afterwards Brock and Holden parted ways leaving the door open for Tom Walkinshaw to come in and start a little operation by the name of Holden Special Vehicles.

To this day Brockie refuses to discuss the `polariser days'. This is all from my overworked memory banks so I apoligise if it's not all correct. Do a search on the net if you're keen to find out more.

Have you put the leads back on properly?

We got them back in tonight with a bottle jack and one of us standing on the control arm to get it as low as possible. Hopefully we will get the time to hook up the brake lines and bleed the brakes tomorrow night.
Thanks again for the help guys.

Send Wally a PM. He has built some moulds to make tail lights etc for 1200's at good prices. I saw the clear ones he has done on a couple of cars and they looked like good quality jobs.

The discs and calipers are off an S13 Silvia. They are bolted to a of set 120Y struts with a 10mm metal bracket using the original high tensile bolts. A guy by the name of Kev Rowley built them for me here in Brisbane. It's a superb job. They look like they were built this way from the factory. Can't wait to get them in and try them out!!!

I'm in the middle of replacing my front drums with ventilated discs. I have assembled the new brakes but I can't get the struts to compress enough to go back in! What am I doing wrong?
Thanks Matty

Hi converted
There is a label on the base of the seat that says it complies with ADR's 3/01 and 22/00 but it doesn't say anything about FIA approval. You could have a chat to the guys at www.onautos.com.au where I bought the seat from.

My ute is not my everyday car. I have an automatic Starlet to battle the traffic everyday with. Boring but easy to drive. I agree that the race seats are a pain for everyday use because there isn't much padding and they're not very easy to get into and out of.

My seat turned up in the mail today. Pretty good quality. Not as nice as my brother's Sparco Sprint seat but also half the dollars so I'm not complaining. They are ADR compliant but you will need an engineer's certificate for the street.

The one I have bought is similar to the fixed back Forza in the above photo but it doesn't have the abrasion resistant panels on the high wear areas and it fits a bit tighter around the bum and shoulders.

I'll have it in the car within a fortnight and hopefully get the chance to test it out any Queensland Raceway. I'll let you know if it's any good.
