Heya guys,

I am just curious as to peoples experience with the CA18DET engines in the datto's.
Was it worth the conversion v's the money spent? Would you do it again?
I have read the wiki with regard to the 'extra' expense and issues that can be had, but it doesn't talk about the satifaction of the conversion.

Cheers

Heya Guys,

Can someone please tell me if these marks are wear or are they ment to there? They are located as follows:
Cylinder 1 - 12 o'clock (being toward the front of the block)
Cylinder 2 - 6 o'clock
Cylinder 3 - 12 o'clock
Cylinder 4 - 6 o'clock.

They look like wear to me. If it is wear, any idea how they got there?

Cheers guys.

Clay

Did ya get a coil to go with it mate? I have just wired up the 2 wires to the terminals on the coil. Runs like a dream.

Heya guys,

I'm looking to buy an A14 or A15 engine in good running order. Would prefer one that has been newly rebuilt.

Thanks for your help

aahhh..thanks guys.

You must get sick of nubz like me not looking properly hey dd?

Is the gasket alone good enough for sealing of the bakelite piece? When I took it off it had high temp silicon as the gasket.

Cheers

Heya guys,

At about what stage would you consider putting in a bakelite spacer between carby and manifold? Would it be an issue not having one for a daily driving?

Also, I have checked a HEAP of the engine bay photos and none that I could find had a good image of the bonnet rubbers. I am just curious as to the orientation of them. Can someone point me in the right direction on this, the previous owner just had square rubber blocks glued in.

Cheers

Ha ha..thats what I had to do to. I just removed the ballast and joined the wires (just in case the coil/dizzy didn't work, would be able to revert back to the points dizzy easy enough)
