Interesting that these so-called "Excellents" never gained the cult status of their A-powered bretheren. It's telling that this is the only two recent pics I've found of an Excellent (except for the race car versions).

In fact, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if this was the same car. Note the similarities, such as the Bluebird mirrors, in both pics.

Yeah, but if forced to sit down and see what they were gettin themselves into with such a project, many guys (not you, of course) probably wouldn't even start. Happens all the time over here with youngsters buyin 240sx's to do the sr20det conversion and surprised when the costs start multiplyin and the pizza delivery money runs dry then it's time to hit up your mum.

Sorry, I thought the 610 was a 160.

The 610's suspension is identical to a 510 (1600), and the engine mounts are too.
Hey, t&t, I want some of whatever you've been smokin ...

510 and 610 (& 710) have a similar front suspension design and share certain components, but the motor mounts ain't one of them.

The 610/710 mount (pictured) comes as one piece with a riser that bolts to the crossmember, whilst the 510 mount bolts to a separate riser which comes welded to the crossmember.

610/710 mount:

Your homework will be to memorize thes following table:

Australia/Europe = USA = JDM
------------------------------------------
180b = 610 = Bluebird-U

140j/160j = 710 = Violet

I think that is a 2tc 1.6 motor (you can tell by the hemi head).

Anyway, we don't believe for a minute you that if you bought the peanut that you would be able to stay away from datsun1200.com.

In any case, you should check out Tom's Corolla Page.

Not being a Toyota guy, I can't get myself into trouble by admitting I prefer the look of this 2dr sdn (Peanut) to the Coupe (Mango). I guess I'm just nostalgic since it was one of the first cars I owned and wrecked.
