Cool thanks for the advice mate. I'll have to come and have a look at your setup to try and convince me to go LPG.

But at the moment it's looking like I'm gonna go petrol!

I think he's spent some time on that block and done some work to it. I don't think he wants to part ways with it

Ok a decision has finally been made in terms of the engine.

I am going with a L Series / Z Series Combo. I believe they are sometimes refered to as LZ.

Going to use L16 Block and Rods. Block bored to 85mm. L20B Crank, Z20E pistons. Will be using everything from the Z18ET Head & Up.

Picked up Z18ET head, inlet manifold, timing case with all components, turbo exhaust manifold, t3 turbo, injectors and the alloy turbo rocker cover for $250.

Need to source L16 Block & Rods and L20B crank of anyone knows where I can get this stuff cheap?

I can't come to the cruise. I'm on night shift at the moment. I start work at 8pm Saturday night finishing at about 4am on Sunday morning. Won't get home till about 5am and have to be back at work 3pm on Sunday. So that's kinda me out!

LAGWAGON as revhead has said...mildly worked A15 with A60 5 Speed.

Yeah I would hate to do all that work and get over it real quick. While It may be the cheapest option, I don't think it will make me the happiest.

I don't wanna do CA simply because its too common and the car kinda loses its character.

Personally I have always been a fan of petrol. Im only throwing the idea out there because I was told it can be done. I'm not totally opposed to it yet either.

Let's say I went with the LZET setup as mentioned with the factory EFI. What are all your opinions then? Let's take LPG out of the equation for a minute because it's making everyone lose focus on the core topic I was originally seeking advice for.

Loving all the input here guys...it's good to get as many ideas and opinions to help decide what to do...especially for someone like me who has never built one of these type of engines.

LPG is not a definite at this stage it was just a suggestion/option...so we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

I myself kinda already knew that using Morrows motor as an example was not really relevant as I had already assumed that it was a highly developed engine which costs a lot more money than most of us are willing to spend or rather way too much to put into a street car. But I suppose it can be used to demonstrate the Z18ET potential.

Looking at both setups (A15 EFI & LZ combo) on face value it appears that the A15 would probably end up costing more with a not so good or not good enough result...for me anyway.

It appears in the other hand that the LZ would be inexpensive to put together...more reliable and more power and potentional...more performance upgrades/options.

My goals are to have a car that is both very quick for most street cars but yet still very drivable if I want to drive sensible with some level of comfort...not like a pig.

I plan to take it around the track once every blue moon. I want the car to be able to be driven daily of need be so reliability is big for me.

I'd be extremely happy with somewhere 180-200kw atw. A 12 sec pass down the 1/4 mile would be even better...I'm not sure if those figures compliment each other.

I'd like to find a combo that can achieve all this but weighs as little as it needs to be and nothing more.

As this build is going to be over a big length of time, the cost isn't too much of an issue for me.

Now you all know exactly what my goals are. Whether they are achievable I do not know...which is why I'm here. :)

Keep the comments/opinions coming.

Cheers, Joey

Thanks mate. I will def be needing some help on the way. Still very new to these engines and not quite as knowledgeable as you blokes when it comes to mechanics. Am using this project to learn.
