I have a 1976 1200 ute which had i dunno if they were standard or not but it had a disc front end, anyway dad used to drive it and it never wore out pads, it sat in the shed for 10 years or so then we took it out and did it up rebuilt everything painted it etc put a 1400 motor in it, anyway dad drove it down from out house in new south wales down here to tassie everything was fine, had it on the road down here for about a month was driving heard a grinding noise the outside left pad was worn out to metal, replaced the pads they lasted about a month, found out there was a crack in the rotor which explains it, got hot opened the crack and wore the pads out.
so what i did was went down to the local wreckers they had a 120y which was owned by an old lady that didnt thrash it lol
i got the calipres and rotors out of it, put them in my ute the rotors look pretty new no cracks or wear marks, put an ew set of brake pads in and they wore out in about a month and a half again, i do have a tiny leak in my brake system somewhere i have to top up one of the bottles in the master cylinder from half way or so to full about every 2 weeks,
does anyone have any idea why my pads are wearing out so quick? its really giving me the #OOPS#s big time

hey guys got a 1976 dato 1200 with an a14, umm my starter motor seems to be making a whizzing noise and not engaging on the ring gear and making the car start, it takes about 10 goes or so to get it to start? i'm thinking the overrun gear is worn out as it spins both ways and the wiki says it should onyl spin one way, so would i be correct in buying a new starter? cheers

K so I've got an a14 in my dato Ute, dad reckons it has a governor on the motor, how do I take it off, is it worth doing? I know about the added pollution I don't care about that lol
