If I'm going to cut the forward section of the arch I might go a little further and flare it all or just cut it and use my bolt on's... Although I'm not keen on another defect magnet.

I measured the struts and your right very little difference. The R31's have aprox 9mm more offset.

Give datsport a call, they are knowledgeable in stanza inserts and use/sell a very nice adjustable one. It's a bit pricy for my budget but worth the $ from what Ive seen in our club.

Based on having less track I would have a larger selection of wheels with no or negative offset. I would be able to use adjustable lower control arms to get more camber instead of needing camber tops to stop wheels hanging too far out. Also turn without outer edge of wheels touching front of wheel arch. But that's all based on stanza having less offset to R31. I have both struts in a family workshop, next time I'm around I'll do some measurements.

If they are both the same maybe I should sell both sets and try to find some 280zx struts. Its funny how I wouldn't have a problem if I only had one set to choose from. I suppose I'm lucky to have an option.

After talking with a mate last night it seems more worth while to do the stanza struts not just for the reasons listed but also because they give more options for future modifications.

I remember reading somewhere that the R31 face is 30mm more offset than most other datsun struts?

Stanza:
More camber
Less track (nicer wheel fitments)
Brakes don't look as good
Need to section to get desired height
Need inserts to suit height

R31:
Wider track with stock wheels
Need to buy 14's or bigger
Requires sheer load spacers
Need to change spring perches to fit smaller springs in towers

R31's are cheaper and require less work but I'm not keen on more track with less camber.

If I had the money I would do both with good inserts and springs, try both and sell one set but I cant until the new house is finished and that's a good 5 months away.
