I'm running the stock late model no-points dizzy without hooking up the vacuum with the MSR carbs and just set it for total advance... ended up being around 10-11 at idle. It ran okay but then I removed one of the two advance springs to get quicker advance and it works great now. Did the same mod to my wife's ute with Mikuni/Solex carbs and the same dizzy and worked a treat once again.
I put R32 GT-R seats in my ute. Mostly because of how thin they are which gives every bit of available cabin space in a ute, and they were free. Had to fab brackets using a combination of the original brackets and GT-R seat adjusters. Also, since they're uneven I had to make some spacers to make the fabrication easier on the passenger side. Took most of an afternoon, but well worth it.
It's not that bad really, but this replaced a 5kg flywheel. My wife's ute's a little more friendly but even with the big cam it's still fine. Revs like a motorcycle.
I've got A/C in my wife's ute. It's an internally bone stock A12 with a gazillion miles on it and enough blowby coming throught the breather it could double as a compressor. The stock carb didn't keep up with the blowby at idle so I bolted some solexes that I had to overjet. The A/C works good, even on this pathetic engine, but power is effected quite noticably. With the sidedrafts though, I'd say with the A/C on, it's like driving an A12 with a stock carb. The only downside to my setup is the small condensor... need to upgrade for more effeciency.
