A 3.9 diff ratio will drop the revs a tad and 3.7 ratio even better if you can find one. 60A 5 sp with the overdrive is even better and atleast 2 times more expensive than a 4 spd. Or if money is no problem, go the 5 spd and a 3.9 / 3.7. So you have to weigh up costs. 1st you have to buy a 60A 4 speed anyway. That may set you back say $300+ and installing say $150 (roughly not a debate people). A 60A 5spd will be roughly $800-$1000 plus installing it. So you have to ask yourself for double the price is it worth what you want to achieve and drop the rev and save fuel and engine life etc. A diff center if you can find one would set you back probably $200+ and then it has to be installed. It will drop your rev's a tad. So a 60A 4 spd and new diff will set you back probably $750+ VS say 60A 5spd $900-$1100 installed. The 5 spd is a better option for long trips or do both. 5 spd s arent that rare , just expensive !!

Just done a quick look in my garage and found a reco"d Garrett M24 Ar48. Would this be too big for a mildly worked A14 ??

If there are no deep scratches, use just a compound, I think green 1st finished off in white, if they're deep Yes use a medium sandpaper then fine paper then polish. It's not a 5 min job. Yes you will remove the scratches as most polish places will sand if necessary.

Hey DD: I am not mechanically minded but I dont think 25,000 klm / $5k / 120/A15 at the wheels sounds right. Slightly off topic,Ive spent just under $7k for a S/c A14 to get a modest 120bhp cause thats all I wanted with the intention of 120 bhp with reliability and long life. Yes if I thrash the ass out of it,like any motor, it will definetly shorten the life, but with a spurt here n there, I'd be pissed off if I only got 25,000 klms out of it. Ok I know this topic is for N/A motors but I would honestly expect double the life atleast. And just to prove a point, I wanted 140 bhp at the start with h-beams and forgies then decided to drop the hp and removed the H beams and forgies, cause I was told the it was not necessary and keep em for another project. I am running stock pistons and just stock peened rods. If were talking A15 N/A with 150 bhp , I'd agree with Rallytwit and expect to get around the block once for $5k cause rev's kills motors and also what application is was build for. As a streeter I'd expect a longer life for my buck

Depending on how big the crack is. Maybe it's already stuffed and cracked a cell. you,ve probably lost a bit of acid out of it, so it wont hold a charge. even if you top it up with water. If its a tiny crack ive heard people plastic welding it, bout that sound desperate and dangerous to me ... Get a new one and dont forget to clamp it .
