Best to restore it to dead stock if you are after reliability and low fuel consumption.Not sure but i think some utes came with lpg from factory so thats worth researching.Can't beat factory reliability assuming car didn't have any defects when on production but thats just my opinion.
Just use NOS items where applicable i.e radiator and rebuild the whole engine.

Searched forum but couldn't find too much detail on weber tuning information.Searched google and found some interesting links to tuning and choosing weber dcoe carburettors.

Even though no two engines will produce the exact hp could some of the forum members that are using twins webers be kind enough to post up their dyno hp and torque figures and list of modifications of their setups etc for their NA motors and especially the A series.This would help some of us who haven't undertaken the process of choosing the right size webers for different applications.

From the links, expected bhp figures could help in choosing the right main venturi sizes.And tuning has been "stressed out" to be very important and things like the wrong choke sizes etc can even affect engine life.(running very rich,oil leaks).

so any dyno sheets or links to some would provide valuable data as to how a similarly modified a series might run.

The last link was also very informative on how to tune.i.e using a portable exhaust gas analyzer like one sold by gunsons and how to try and evaluate the data you get from its mixture map.Going to a dynamometer tuner etc.

Fast a12 engines are pretty unique in their own rights as most upgrade to a14s/a15s as its the most simple way to up the a-series power.A worked a12 sounds great and revs hard.

Depending on what your after,if not fussy,try and minimize any weight possible while running the a12.smaller,lighter battery,fibreglass or carbon bonnet and guards ,no carpet and sound deadener, etc will not be comfy but should be fun.also a good clutch and a lighter flywheel.

Some forum members have modified a series engines and would offer better advice in relation to running methanol i.e Compression,metal head gaskets and the sort.Personally, i wouldn't run methanol on street and would first find out if its legal to use it in your state.
From what ive read on this site,very modified a series are not too street friendly.

if your after bang for buck, your better off with a good affordable turbo engine.Modified a-series gear can easily top up the costs for a turbo engine conversion with slight power increases for a lot of money spent.

and if you don't mind me asking, what bits do u have for your a-series.im very interested with a series go fast bits.pm me if you want.

hey speedaddic,
if your after bang for buck, then turbo engines will be your best bet.Id say along lines of ca18det.Ofcourse check legality of any engine conversion before spending heaps just to find out you can't register the car if thats what ur intentions are.
im hoping to modify an a12 and run it in the future.Id say build a crazy a12 mate.im not sure of driving a methanol a12 though and how it would respond in the street.

Naturally aspirated A-12 but would love to get another coupe or ute for a ca18det engine in the future.

D, there is a reason most if not all the supercar beating tb48 turbo patrols running huge hp are in dubai...... money is not a limit
And everything is compared to a 2jz(3 liter motor made in 1992),including tb48t, for a reason....

In regards to the tire temps, what type of equipment do they use to record such data as car is being driven?and where would the sensors be installed to measure the heat and wear in the tires and g-force on car?

and there is a v8 4wd 240z in Victoria,Oz and it apparently handles very well.Many victorians might have seen it in easternats sandown before they closed/stopped the event.This 240z was very fast!!!Also runs wide rims/tires.

I didn't think of it that way.Very good point.So would have the 4cylinders kept up with the sixes on dry considering they have weight advantage on a tight&twisty track?
And for those who do track racing like yourself,would you mind sharing any pointers on how to keep calm and concentrate while opponents are "breathing down your neck"/tailgating?
