Nismo or sumimoto Mk63 brake calipers. Not sure if alloy but They are four pot and fit under 13inch rims. They cost quite a bit though.Rebuild kits are now abit more common than a fews years back.

unfamilia,

the 2zzge would be a really good setup esp if supercharged like in the lotus and in a light chasis car such as the 1200 dattos.Do you know if there any mods in the oz market to adapt them to rwd ? i have Read about complaints from customers in regards to engine damage when aggressively downshifting but i wouldn't have a clue on that issue.

And anyone with any info or dealings/experience on fiats/lancia 16v engines? the race spec engines apparently have 250-270hp and can rev to 10,000rpm.

some links on youtube,
Fiat 16v 275bhp na race motor

Fiat 1.8 16v oltre 250hp @ 10.000rpm Gulli Motori

Hey guys,

I think the f20c from the honda s2000 would be a good choice if plans for project is an all out Naturally aspirated motor and after not a too common conversion and if you don't mind using a non nissan engine. It comes factory with 240bhp and are costing around 5k for engine, ecu, wiring loom and 6speed gearbox package with clutch .As mentioned by D, they are heavy but into a 1200 datsun would be amazingly fast.

A dead stock Naturally aspirated Honda S2000 despite weighing heavier, has a quicker 0-60mph times and quicker quarter mile time than a dead stock turbo Ca18det s13/180sx silvia. And would come down to the drivers against a dead stock turbo Sr20det s13/180sx. Take of the turbos from the sr/ca and its a different story. In other words, can't compare an f20c to sr20de or ca18de.Best bang for buck if intending to keep the car and leave it NA in oz due to the 2.0liter non turbo limitation.

To build a non turbo sr20de/ca18de to f20c standards would cost alot just to compare to a dead stock f20c engine.so 5k for f20c engine/gearbox package would actually work out to be more cheaper, reliable, drivable than say 240bhp heavily worked sr20de.

Can only imagine the power to weight ratio of a modified f20c in a datsun 1200.

thanks for the input mate but im looking into the future with the sr20de and would look at heavily working it as a n/a, i was thinking of using the autech s15 sr20de but im thinking it might take too bigger chunk out of the wallet at this point.

revhead001,
No one is "DICTATING".I understand what your saying as the topic title is asking on what his engine is worth. But upon reading the thread,i'm under the impression he wants or intends to build a heavily worked Naturally Aspirated motor for his 1200 not a Turbo engine.
He is already bored with the a14 because he used to own an fj20 1600 so looking for something fast but NA.Some of us are simply advising him to start with a better base engine as its more cost effective in the long run.It would be more expensive to modify a non-turbo sr20de/ca18de to the levels of a dead stock NA 240bhp f20c which would be more reliable, drivable, last longer etc as its stock.

Its an opinion given, not forced upon.

D,
Im comparing Non turbo 4 cylinder engines under 2000cc. a 240bhp dead stock f20c engine with loom, ecu and 6 speed gearbox is cheap for what it accomplishes at aud $5000k .
I say we move over to the engines for dattos thread??

cheers

Hey D,

Im assuming the qr23de is a 2.3liter?

Hondas s2000 engine would comply with the 2.0liter NA requirement for engineering in a 1200.I don't think there is an engine that can compete with the f20c hp/liter under 2000cc.Yes its heavy but with engines producing 250bhp at the rear wheels when modified is no easy feat.Regardless of how heavy the engine is ,if going to a lighter car like the 1200, im pretty sure they would give most ca18det 1200s a run for their money if most likely not beat them.

Ive seen many modified integra type rs / civics with na motors keep up and some often beat turbo cars .A modified f20c in a 1200 coupe with the right suspension setup to support its weight, would be extremely quick.

Cheers

and if your after an all out NA 4 cylinder engine, you can't go past the f20c engine from the honda s2000. You could land an Engine with loom, ecu and 6 speed gearbox from japan to oz (melbourne) for aud$5000k. 250bhp stock. but then the costs of custom mounts, modifing gearbox tunnel, suspension and brakes, diff etc etc

Sounds like your after NA hp so i guess my opinion won't count as much. There is always going to be a car/engine with more hp/torque than what one has.And even after you achieve targeted power, you will want more.and thats where turbo will seem as the most value for money. So maybe ca18det would be your best option in the long run.

That said, i would advise you to A12 it as it originally came out with it and live it NA simply for the fun/enjoyment factor.Or any A series engine will do.Spend all the costs of installing the sr20 on modifying/upgrading the a12engine and its drive terrain,56a 5speed,nismo lsd etc.. will end up costing more but will also be more rare n still really old school.

You keep the old school factor and in the future i doubt there will be many a12 NA powered dattos with the current trend...

i.e running such an a12 setup, great idle and sounds good.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEx5yrDCAno&feature=related

and the worth of your engine based on opinions is really based on opinions and everyone has a different one.As some have said and tried to sell worked a series engines on this forum, some see the value and others don't.some will question why pay 1500 for a modified a12gx head when i can buy a ca18det etc etc.... and others will buy the gx head no questions asked.

What are your plans for the car?

Cheers
