there is only one wire at the coil with 12V and that is the B/R wire and that is the case with ON/Start possition for the key

did the normal checks with the cap off and all that sort of thing already. What is gettign me is this was a running ute last week and all i have done is change the engine over, it has the same ignition gear as what the other engine had apart from having the dizzy rebuilt

If there is an issue with the S wire you are talking about where do i find its sorce and fix it???

ok so i know the coil works but here is a good one for who ever thinks they might be able to help, when i pulled the dizzy out to check it and see if it worked (earth lead to the base of the dizzy to the battery and spark plug to the battery as well with the dizzy hooked up to the coil) i spun the gear of the dizzy and BAM i have spark!!!! Put it all back into the engine and check earth of the block/head (all good and all earthed nicely as well) recheck for spark with it all hooked back up and once again no spark

So this now has me really all screwed up and lost again

Please throw ideas at me ppl as im starting to run out of ideas now

Hey guys so i have just finished fitting up my new engine in my sunny truck, i went from the standard A12 to an A14 with twin dellortos but now for some stupid reason it doesnt have spark hence no run.

So i have searched on here through all of the wiki sections and i have the coil all hooked back up the same and the only thing i have changed for the ignition side of things is having the dizzy rebuilt with having the vac advance removed and recurved to suit the new cam. Everything cranks nicely, has oil pressure and has fuel but when checking for spark i keep getting donuts.

One of the things i have been thinking about is the fact that since i have now fitted up dellortos i no longer am able to hook up half of the loom in the engine bay as the loom had plugs going to the stock carby and an oxy sensor in the exhaust manifold

Any thoughts as to what it could be as i really need to make sure this is running before the long wkend is over.

i did it in my ute but i just took the bottom leaf flipped it and put it back on the top, dropped the car a bit over 2" but i will give you one comment about it "DONT DO IT" makes the back of the ute to bouncy and #OOPS# when going around corners. I have new shocks in the back as well so i know it isnt from the shocks either. Either get them lowered or if you dont want to do that then get lowering blocks for it. Im going to be putting my blocks back in this wkend coming after finishing my engine swap

this is bloody good timing as i actually called Thompsons Radiators ( i believe they are classed as Natrad Moorabbin ) today asking about this exact same thing and was quoted over the phone a cost of $240 to $250 for them to do the same thing......

Might need to pay them a visit and bring this up with them and see what they have to say face to face

basically building up an A14 with full port and polished head, twin valve springs, over sized inlet and exhaust valves, flat top pistons running 10.8:1 comp, twin side draught 40mm dellortos and a 296/297 cam as well.

So thats yeah i guess you could say it is going to be fairly highly tuned but it is deffs going to stay NA, im still thinking about just running a mid muffler and no rear but then again if i do that then i can always put a rear on if i need it down the track

So im trying to work out the final buts and pieces for when i fit up my engine in a week or so and im trying to suss out what sort of exhaust systems ppl are running in their NA A series cars these days

Im going to be running a fairly modded engine and it does have a full set of extractors 4 into 1 which is 2" out and im looking to find out what sort of set ups are being used with good results, i was looking at a mid muffler only but then started to think about the need for a system with back pressure (first NA car i have built up in close to 12 years) again

Any help that could be offered up would be appreciated

Ok so it looks like im going to head to The Carbie Shop to get the carbies sorted when i get the engine finally sorted but i do have another random question for you A series brains out there

Im going to do a full 2" exhaust system on it and what im wondering is what the thoughts on running mid mufflers only are, i know they need decent back pressure for an NA motor but would you think that just a mid would be enough

Other thing is what brand mids are people running these days or is it more something that people have just been getting made up by an exhaust shop
