There is no question... Jeff Taylor is the "A15 GURU". The majority of A series powered Datsuns in State and National series of motorsport that have one titles as i know it have been powered by Jeff's engines.

Guys i have been reading heaps of info regarding the above two named engines... My initial plan was the CA18 given the success on the track that Andrew has had with his 1200 although now looking at what is and isnt available for both engines, it seems that life is going to be a lot easier with the "still in production" SR20.

Even the basics or bolt on mods and parts are readily available for the SR20 but it seems that anything for the CA18 is near non exsistant!

I am about to embark down the path of building a serious little car and i am now in two minds about what engine i want to use.

Those of you with experience and those with a more technical approach to the question... your comments are welcomed with open arms....

has anyone fitted an aftermarket pedal box to a 1200?

Something on the lines of this Wilwood set up...

http://www.wilwood.com/Products/005-P ... s/002-FSMP/dual/index.asp

I was only thinking about it becuase the set up in the 1200 i have now is going to need to be replaced and i figure the benefits for racing and the on the track, would outweight the cost of an aftermarket set up... thoughts???

I rang Wetherill Park Panels today... I have ordered new bonnet, 2 new guards and new front apron. The whole lot cost me $240.00... needless to say i was pretty impressed, just hope that they fit ok

Howdy all, long time lurker who hasnt posted in a while.

Well after saying goodbye to my 400kw at all four wheels STi my heart has led me back to my forever favorite 1200Coupe. I have infact owned a few others in the past and also a crazy 1000Coupe Under 2 Litre Sports Sedan but this time i want to build something special.

My good mate "The Country Bumkin" Andrew and his trusty stead have ,motivated me to also go down the CA18 path but i am thinking that a stroker may be the go

The car is going to be a bit of an "all-rounder" as it will be used in everything from hillclimbs, Super Sprints, Imporved Production on occasion, Kana-cross, drags and what ever else we can get it to pee the v8 and rotor boys off with

I took delivery of the car yesterday and can not wait to get stuck into it. I am sure i will be using this place (and you guys) with assistance in getting my grubby hands on some parts.

Of the top of my head i need the following;

Complete Dash
Front Apron
Grill
Front & Rear Bumpers

Some questions so far;

getting window rubbers, who where and how?

Who has used after-market panels? i am about to order new bonnett and gaurds but have heard mixed reports about them?

I am sure there will be more reports on the build as i get into it and i will also post pictures as we go. At the moment, we are just getting the car pulled down and getting it sand blasted and ready for the chrome molly cage to get stitched into it

stay tuned i guess...

if it doesnt make a noise when you are standing still and revving the engine, it may be something in your drive train....

first thing that i would be checking is that the tailshaft bolts are all still there and that the tailshaft has not had a knock and gone out of wack ???? or for that point the yoke doesn't have any play in it ????

i once had a similar problem for weeks and turned out that on a clutch change i didnt have the thrust race bearing on properly and everything went out of wack

"food for thought"

I just bought another last weekend........

complete car running with no rego or interiour for $350.00. It hadn't been started for 3 years, we took the air filter off, squirted some WD40 down the carb, pluged a battery in and.... "bang bang, chitty chitty bang bang"
IT STARTED !!!
