I didn't know the GX was not sold in normal fashion in the US. Makes the junkyard finds of the rare imported ones that much more special. My H89 head is ported to match the GX intake and enlarging a Fel-pro A14 gasket opening leaves it too thin at the top for my comfort. Also, it's hard to do without making a mistake, for me at least. I think I will go with the Bprojects one and plugify the coolant ports. Thanks for the help.

Bprojects JAPAN sells a dual bolt pattern manifold gasket without water ports on Ebay. Other GX gaskets won't work with my later style intake. Any other sources for a gasket with water port openings? Not finding anything at Rack Auto or via the online Fel-Pro catalog. I'll buy the Bprojects gasket and plug the holes if I need to, but I wanted to ask first.

I don't know about the difficulty in the swap to the T50, but here is something to consider. The little British car community, especially the MG Midget/Austin Healey Sprite enthusiasts, prize the 60a because it fits so easily in the rather tight confines of the Spridget chassis without mods. Commercially available easy swap kits are designed around this trans. So, there is a strong market for the trans. You might be able to do the swap, then sell the trans into the Spridget market and come out ahead in dollars. A good core trans sells in the states sell for around USD 6-800.

So I broke an exhaust manifold flange stud. The manifold is an H95 for an 1981 A15, pretty typical I think. Where can I get a correct replacement?

When you mate the header tube to the header flange, do you weld the tube to the face of the plate or do you push the tube into the port opening of the plate and then weld?

What sealant or gasket to use for 60A 5 speed?

Just replaced the syncros in my 60A 5 speed. The cases had been sealed with sealant which I assume is normal for this one. What do I use for reassembly? I would prefer that it not leak after reassembly, although since it is used in an MG leakage would not be inappropriate.

There were no B210s in '82, but if the car was a 210 and you can see "60" cast into the right side of the case then that is the one you want.

OK on the 1200 flywheel, but what about the A15 flywheel, which is what I have. Can do the same or?

Hello, Datto people.

So I have this A15 that I built and stuffed into an MG Midget. Running well. I am gonna pull the engine/trans for some stuff and am considering lightening the flywheel. Reason is, despite the H89 head, the 260/.425 cam and the twin HIF4 SUs it kinda revs a bit lazy. So with the engine out I am wondering if lightening the flywheel would be worth the trouble to help it rev quickly, to help with quick rev matching when downshifting? Car is only around 1600 lbs and has a 3.9 rear ratio.

Next question: the engine was balanced when I had the machine work done. Are the flywheel neutral balanced or do they have a specified imbalance?

I am wondering if I can have it lightened without messing up the engine balance or if I have to have everything rebalanced?
