I made 1:1 prints of the oval port file onto 4 mil transparent film and matched them up with my H89 and H95 heads and they matched perfectly with typical manufacturing tolerances allowed. I mean, they were right on. Being that they are in DXF format they can be brought into many CAD platforms, true scale, where they can be massaged to individual taste.

Can the DXF files be hosted by the forum in the Downloads section for easy access?

I have 2D CAD files (dxf) of intake and exhaust plates for oval and round port. Don't recall where I got them. Can send them via email to interested parties.

Will you also be replacing the synchros?

G,
The Japan home market has a registration tax system that taxes cars progressively higher as they age. As a result, there is a large supply of decent used cars that are scrapped and the low mileage engines are imported into this country. I bought a couple of used import engines and transmissions for our Civic and Accord in the 90s. There were used Japanese engine & trans sellers in Houston so I am sure they were/are in your area as well. That's how the engine came to be in the car in the junkyard where I found my H89 head. That's the reason I tell everyone to look under the valve cover of any Datto A series when visiting the junk yard. Ya might get lucky.

G,

I use an H89 head port matched to a GX intake with SU HIF4 carbs.

Here are a couple of pix of a modified oil pan for reference (not mine).

Hey, G.

That 262° duration, .425 lift (at valve, I think). cam in my build, a regrind from Delta, has worked out great. Larger than a GX (A12GX: 256°, .331 lift at cam), it has very good torque all the way down at 1500 and a wide power band that allows me to easily cruise in 3rd or 4th in the windy canyon & mountain roads I love to drive. It is amazing the tractability of this engine down low. Of course, it moves well when I put the spurs to it. Stock valve springs limits my Rs, as I have not yet swapped in the GX spring set I recently purchased. Now, I am still using the stock Midget mufflers. Replacing those with something more open will change the tourque curve somewhat. Still, if building another A series I would use that grind again. On the other hand Delta might be able to reproduce a GX on your core, or another profile.

One of my favorite roads: http://www.canyonrats.com/2013/04/roa ... little-tujunga-canyon-rd/

Weld a flange onto the end of the exhaust pipe, its the most straightforward way.

So you think a flange and a donut will work OK? It would certainly be smoother.
