Put it this way, 2 weeks ago I was not a Datsun person. I appreciated the builds but did not think I'd ever own one... Till a friend put up a photo on Facebook of a Little Ratty 1200 sedan. I had to buy it. I don't even know what made me want it but anyway, I ended up with a ratty 1200 sedan.
Photos make it look real clean.

Had a set of 14x7 SSR MK2's kicking around the shed.

Tevin wanted to buy the rims, was going to sell them... then bought a datsun.. I am the worst friend ever hahahah!!

TAKE 1 Datsun 120y Strut.

Clean dat

remove spring perch

Instead of using a grinder, I used the lathe so I could reuse these perches on another set of struts to make a lowered set on normal springs so it's abit softer instead of 8kg springs lol

Find the cheapest revalvable Insert that was the shortest for that strut....
Now.. f#%k paying $300 for a sleeve kit... Went to a local suspension shop with a pair of vernier calipers about 3 months ago and picked up about 5 sets of coilovers from different cars...

Look... the Rear S13 coilovers.. same ones that are in Brontes Cuore.

Datto 120y strut is 45mm on the outside, this happenes to be 46mm... sweeeeeeeet.

So chopped one side up ( kept the other for another set of coilovers :D )

Thats the strut shortened ready to be migged up

welded and ground back

Favourite colour of black

Cheap second handy Cambertops.....
There you go, now you know how to make a cheap pair of coilovers haha!

installed :D

Ride height .. tick

Put a new inlet gasket on and cleaned the carby so it won't sound like a John Deere anymore lol..

girlfriend decided to clean the sump, then the gearbox... then the diff... hahaha so when I go to weld the diff up tonight... atleast it will be clean! I like her thinking :)
