we started pulling out that stock engine and tranny and sent it to my cousin who will do the over all cleaning and overhauling. Parts will be purchased in Banawe, Quezon City (an entire street that caters all auto needs. all parts can be sourced here just choose from brand new, japan surplus, total wrecked surplus, taiwan immitations, and even stolen parts)

jay please let me know if you can source out rubbers from cebu. Manila is running out of stocks. i have to order some from australia and japan which make it too expensive, due to cost of freight ans custom taxes.

we also took out the bed since it clearly needs replacement, and we were caught with another surprise. several of the main support was also invaded by rust as well as the gas tank. This build is turning out to be a big headache.

we started stripping the vehicle, first the front panels, the doors an last the interior.we removed both seats and the carpet to see the flooring. What i saw was rust! it didn't look good, the pavement under was visible. the whole thing needs to be replaced, which means manually fabricating the floor.

i see, i dont think it will be easy for me to acquire a rectangular left hand dash if i want an older look in and out.
for the mean time ill stick with the 78. Is it appropriate for me to put a sunny script emblem on the rear fender in that case, or just leave it blank? im quite confused with the number of pictures that i have seen here.

My truck was stalled for sometime waiting for its turn in the shop. The bed was temporarily being used as storage for other items. It was parked right beside my cousin's 1977 isuzu gemini 2 door coupe which was also under the process of full restoration. This was the car that started my interest towards old schoolers. if your interested, follow their car and travel blog using this vehicle http://www.facebook.com/thegeminidiaries. it was currently featured in the C! magazine nov 2011 issue. (my cousin who owns the gemini was a car enthusiast/professional racer)
After my ute is finished i am planning to join them in one of their trips, hopefully my schedule will permit. its going to be a sunny and gem tandem.
the last photo was taken in Bohol one of the island destination in our country. i took this shot when i jumped in one of their trips.

sir, thanks for that info re grill in silver color for the 78 look.anyway
what kind of dash did the 71-77 use? was the round dash used somewhere in those years or just the rectangular guages?
