extract from the wiki

I speculate that the US arm of DatsunSport quite possibly listed the stock F5W56A [wide ratio trans] as their Option 1 gearbox & the real Option 1, the close ratio F5C56A competition trans, as their Option 2 offering, thereby confusing the situation completely. [Author KB10]

The gearbox should hold out fine depending on how you drive it and how its maintained. The 56A is a more then decent but id opt for a 56a 5 speed for the stock gearing this transmission works very well for street, slaloms, high-speed time trials or rallies

But if your wanting something else its hard to find something great for racing for example in the tech wiki -
The F5C56A [JDM Option 1] is as rare as hen's teeth. These were racing parts, and thus are difficult to find and expensive. Some Japanese dealers fitted them to retail GX models for special customers. The Japan domestic model Datsun 1200 GX-5 came with the wide ratio F5W56A as standard. This was also available from Datsun Competition.

So it depends on what you want to do, and how you do it.

Im running a 5 speed 56a and it still doesnt miss a beat

B310- sounds good but looks like it comes out of a corner well then has a stuttering problem in a straight line then couple gear changes and it hammers again.

Is it traction problem or possibly him driving around a surging fuel problem of sorts?

Ahh yes sir you are correct - i couldnt really tell with the kit looked like a 120 sedan when i was watching but when i looked again at the rear it most certainly is a B310

loosekid .the one you have,is a std type manifold with webber,or something different. can you put up pic on forum.cheers

Yeah its the original down draft manifold with webber out of a datsun sunny B310 that was on the A15 - only thing different is that the manifold has been nickel coated from a mate because i was going to use it but opt'ed for dual 45mm webbers with redline manifold

Ill take a pic when i get the chance and put it up for you to look at.

But as the topic states we are talking about a side draft (not the down draft that i just stated i had sitting around at the chance someone was interested in)

I got a A15 down draft one with carb if you are by chanced interested

But in regards for the side draft id give recarb a call as they have most things carby related and i just got my manifolds and carbies from them.

Just by luck they may have one or know where someone may have one.
