I don't claim to know jack.
I'm not tryin to make you feel stupid...just trying to get u to think..

I suggest a 3D comp so that the timing can be adjusted properly as incorrect timing may cause detonation.

Also You seem to have answered your own question....which proves your not stupid !!!

Maybe you should make a detonation indicator as this may help.

Are you a M.E.????

How about using rings designed for a turbo car???

Its not how much boost you run that matters, its about controlling detonation. Something you don't seem to know how to do!!!

A low static comp, intercooled motor should??? have no probs?? Why not do it properly this time and run a 3D computer???

i think the diff i have lying around came out of a C20. I'm pretty sure its an h165 as it has 8 nuts/bolts?? and it seems way too wide. you may also need to move the shock mounts?????

the advantage is that more heat is extracted from the metal parts as there is a greater temp difference.

Not worth doing it yer self...just get a bigger radiator if needed.

I'm jealous!!!!!

my "shed" about 1.5m wide by 3m deep.

Car work occurs in the SUNSHINE (under a patio)....no wonder its takin for ever.

even cutting and grinding etc is dependent on the weather!!!

As DAveman said, the heat is used to expand the air, which causes the piston to move down the bore. etc etc.

As for hot exhaust temp...the hotter it is the less dense it is..

the exhaust removes a MASS of gas. the reason hotter is better is : because the gas has a higher velocity, it helps draw out all the gas from the engine. It does this by creating a lower pressure region in the exhaust (compared to combustion chamber) so the exhaust gassses want to leave.

Another reason hotter exhaust gasses may be better is because : beacuse the gas is hotter it has more energy thus it is easier to make it leave the engine.

But all of this has nothing to do with thermal efficiency. Thermal eff is a part of engine design but, in the simple context I understand it in, it's not the holly grail of engine power, it's more likely, that it is closely related to fuel efficiency.

Hotter is probably better, I would like to know up to what point though???

" guess the exhaust as will be cooler in part because they expect you you to use something regenerative like a turbo to extract more thermal efficiency."

What???????????????????????????????????????????????

A turbo does take "wasted" heat from the exhaust to create power...however the extra power creates extra heat plus it requires more fuel. If you are suggesting (I really don't understand what your trying to say) that a turbo makes an engine more thermally efficient...well I don't know..

I spose a fuel efficient engine may have a high thermal efficiency value..a high horsepower engine however...may not necessarily? be highly thermally efficient????

I know my first statement is pretty much on the money, the rest...well car engines are quite complex.
