dude, if you can find any 1200, 120Y or even a clapped out Sunny in a wrecking yard here, well I suggest you sell the info, not give it away for free.
The bloody things are rarer than rocking horse poo here :(

Not really - pulse scavenging increases will alone make a good quality set of extractors worth the time and expense.
Sure, the rarefaction pulse may not end up precisely timed with valve overlap, but most quality names (Genie, for example) will be pretty damn close (space allowing) to a std cam grind anyway
OP - as long as the silencer is as far away from the collector as you could reasonably get it, it should be fine.

That sounds a bit out of my league, electricaly. What I would like to do is just ditch the switch and put in a simple on/off toggle, but like I said, I want a new (or working) switch to try out first and see if it is actually the issue.

rather than start a new one, I will hijack this thread
How in sam hell can I find a part number for a std 6 pole RHD light switch? Pretty sure mine is kaput and I want to try and get my hands on a new one.
Also, if there are any auto sparkies in Perth looking for a cashie, hit me up via PM. This no headlights caper is driving me fkn insane

OK, news update.
Turns out that the little ball bearing that is inside the toggle part of the switch was covered in muck. So after a full "socks and undies" clean and reassemble, I have indicators again.
The headlights seem to be another issue entirely, so after some careful reading of the tech wiki, I think I am going to abandon the factory wiring all together and go down the relay route. Looks to be a better option, and at least I dont have to tear any more hair out trying to diagnose it

Yeah, that was my thought too. Only problem is, after pulling it out and giving it a thourough cleaning, I cant find anything wrong with it :/
Oh, and to confuse matters entirely, the hazard lights work perfectly.
I am going to be bald pretty soon if I dont get this figured out.
either that, or the fkn thing will be on the side of the road with a for sale sign in the window pretty soon.
Anyone have any other suggestions?

are you 100% sure it was a head gasket, and not a split bore? The reson I ask, is the symptoms can be the exact same, but a split bore will usually only rear its head when the engine is hot. Doing a normal coolinf system pressure test wont show it up.
Have you had the coolant tested for exhaust hydrocarbons before or since the head gasket was replaced? Might be worth a check.
But in short, +1 to selling it.

OK, so I thought I would highjack this thread, rather than start another one, but my ute seems to have "lost" its left hand indicators and headlights. It seems a strange combo to lose, to me, but I am hoping someone has come across this before, and can poiint me in the right direction.
All fuses are fine, and every affected single globe has been checked with a multi meter. This is pretty much the extent of my electrical knowledge (other than the golden rule - dont let the smoke out of the wires) so any and all suggestions will be gratefully accepted.

do a compression test, then dribble a couple of CC's of oil down each pot and comp test again.
If it gets better - its the rings on the pistons If it stays the same, its a stuffed valve, or valve stem seal.
Although my money would just be on hardened valve stem seals. Put some oil for "older" engines in it, and give it 500km. If it doesnt get better, you will need to pop the head off and replace them.
