I have one of those kits on my ute, but it was there when I got it. Apparently its been there for about 5 years, and has never been touched. I certainly havent done anything to it (never even lifted the dizzy cap, other than to see what it all looked like, in the last 12 000km) and the old girl still starts every time, with no choke, so personally, I would have to say they are freaking awesome.

Nope, but if you want some local tips on where to go etc when you get here,or a fellow datsun enthusiast to have a beer with, let me know!

Also, if you come across any "must share" info concerning the drive over, feel free to post it up. I will be doing the same run in reverse come december, although I am doing it just because, not for parts or anything.

I did look into doing that, but after examining the tailgate, I dont think it will be strong enough to supprt itself from the side, just by moving the hinges. My question was really aimed at people who had done it, or seen it done, as I wanted to know what sort of framing etc people did inside the tailgate to help stop sagging etc.

As for the "internal latch" mod - anyone have any idea how that was done? I started looking into mounting door catches on either side of the taigate, with the striker loops welded to the tray, but stalled at trying to figure out how to release 2 catches, mounted mirrored to each other, with the one handle (the releases will need to be pulled in opposite directions)

He uses it to cart fertilliser??

That, combined with typical chinese grade steel, means it will be one of the few things in this world that drives slower, and rusts faster, than a datsun!

I will keep this thread updated with pics etc as soon as I have them mate.

Sell the wheel to your nearest N14 / N15 pulsar enthusiast, and go buy one that fits.

I am going through this myself atm. You need to find someone close by that deals with Redline products (aftermarket carby specialist spares - they do weber, holley and most other stuff)

The adaptor plate cost me $65 bucks and I havent got the cable adaptor yet, but have been assured they are easy to set up.

as long as you have a good supply of clean fresh air getting to your air filter, and your cooling system is in good condition, then the higher water temps will actually help with efficiency, make the engine warm up better and keep the oil closer to the perfect temp and pressure.

Only thing you have to watch, is underbonnet temps, but with such a minor increase in temps, I doubt it will be affected
