I have been working away on this slowly, here are some pics of the progress. I still have to model the oil galleries and water galleries and play around with different ports using flow simulation At the moment it is GA16DE cams, valves buckets etc Comments or opinions are welcome!!!

Well I have been slowly working away on this. I caught up with mike (dundee1000) and borrowed a h89 head.
I bought a GA16DE head but I still need to confirm I can use the camshafts with the bore spacing being slightly different to the A series.
The model has been progressing aswell. Could upload a picture or two as well...

D, I have been down the turbo A series route already actually. It will definatley be N/A.
Have done quite a bit of reading on here on DOHC conversions etc. Should have a GA16 head by the end of the week.
Here was my turbo A series I built up-the car and motor has since been turned into a racecar!

What happened with the AY12? Has anybody heard from the Finnish man with any updates recently? He hasn't been online since the end of 2008. I think the price you mentioned above is very reasonable for what you are getting in return.
Are there many datsun events in Perth?

sangropers-I had to google that one haha.
I understand that it is an expencive excercise and is something I have not yet fully investigated. My time is free at the end of the day which is a huge cost. I'm wanting to keep the Aseries gear so I am not changing engine mounts, wiring, fuel system ,tunnel etc because I want to have the option of changing it back to a completey original car one day. In the end I may end up going with a crossflow pushrod or even admit the project is not feasible, but it is something that I am really wanting to have a go at. I will be sure to keep you updated with my progress and will put up a image of the head once it is drawn up.
Dundee, sounds awesome mate, I'm just in Mosman Park. Give me a text or ring and we can go from there. 0404 632 844

Thanks for the reply D. The ideas you talked about are pretty outside the box!!! Casting really interests me and I do some reverse engineering in my job but it isn't car related. I am basically trying to recreate (if it was ever made) the AZ12 head. My initial goal is to get an accurate 3D model with all the components. I will look into rapid prototyping or something of the sort and at what other technologies are availiable. I'm basically doing this for a challenge and to go through the engineering process.
Are there many Perth members on 1200.com?

Hi guys,
I'm a newby here and am designing a twincam 16v crossflow cylinder head for my a12 powered 1200 coupe on Solidworks (3D CAD).
I need a GA16DE head to confirm the bore spacing is the same as or close to the mighty Aseries amongst other measurements as I may end up using GA16 cams. I also need to take some measurements of a A series head (head bolt spacings ect) I have just come over to Perth from NZ so all my parts are back home in the garage. Would prefer locally ideally and either buy or borrow.
Cheers Bede
