Just wondering which a12 this is, the distributor is behind the engine mount, alternator is on the left.

Engine removal tips/Paint |

Hey all, The little A12 is coming out tomorrow so I can spray the bay, I want a fairly good job, but i don't want to remove wiring harness, brake booster, or brake lines, everything else will be out.
Also, looking at painting the engine and parts when it is out, thinking about using a pedestal wire wheel on things like, alternator regulator, wiper motor and timing cover, then just doing a clear coat over the top so it doesn't rust/corrode, painting block and rocker cover as close as i can to stock, also the air filter.
Not sure if i should remove manifolds to paint, or leave them on and mask/news paper.
Has anyone ever done something similar to this before and have tips/tricks ideas, that they would like to share?
Any positive input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Zak

Thanks heaps DD, you seem to be an absolute guru.. I'll definitely be looking into a tune, the only reason I'm considering a rebuild is that I question my cars' reliability.

A12 to A15 swap questions |

Hey, I've got a 79 b310 sunny with an a12 and I've been thinking lately about doing an a15 swap.
Has anyone had any experience doing it?
How much would I be looking at for an a15?
Will it drop straight in or would I need to change all the running gear? (Gearbox, driveline, brakes, diff etc)
Any help appreciated
Cheers, Zak

Hi all, I've got a 79 sunny b310 with a stock a12.
It blows a bit of smoke, and has a knock (Mechanic thinks piston pin knock)
I have considered getting it rebuilt, or just getting a tune
Does anyone have any info on how much better the engine performs after a tune?
And a bit of a long shot here, but is it worth the money getting it rebuilt?
Any help appreciated
Cheers, Zak
