We do not have proper wrecking yards here. Cars are striped and shipped out for compacting. Space is at a premium and the good wrecking yards have become condos!

I'm building a Locost 7 (lotus 7 replica) and need a transmission. I perfer the 56 series because it is light, and I am running an A12a engine and don't expect more than 100hp out of it. with the car weighing less than 1000 lbs. it should be enough.

Second choice is a 60 series 5 speed.

thanks for reading

I feel like the Old man, I'm 52 married to my best firend (she is a great woman) have two daughters and my house is on a 100 feet x 60 feet lot. I work in NYC, ride the train every day (I get more reading done then anyone else I know). I was into sailboats until two years ago, when I went back to sports cars. I'm building a Lotus 7 replica (locost) and was going to use a MG midget 1275 engine until I discovered the great Datsun/Nissan A series engine!!

In my area wrecking yards strip from cars what they want and then send the car to the compactor. They don't keep anything for too long. That is why I tried Car-Parts, but I'm not having any luck in my area. I may have to travel 3 or so hours to find a yard that may have one.

I have been searching for a transmission for my (USA) 210 engine and searched Car-Part.com and it told me a number (22) of places had one, when I called twelve of them I was told that the transmission had been sold years ago. Car-Parts gets a listing but never updates it, so it stays there for years.

Any one know where I can get a F4W56A transmission on the east coast of USA?

I didn't see it. Whatever, if some one is interested let me know. I'd hate to let it just lie around.

I picked it up on E-bay and forgot that my A12a doesn't have the dizzy in the front, so I can't use this. It is still in the original box part 13001-H2300, .336"lift at 256%

I paid US$122, would like at US$100 plus actual shipping. I'm in NYC area.

There are three "new" Nissan factory
A heads for sale on ebay starting bid is US$49. The Nissan numbers are:
11041-H9902
11041-H9500
11041-H9913

the descriptions given aren't too clear as to which Engine they belong, and the Head section doesn't go that high on the number scale.
Anyone know anything about these heads?

Thanks a lot. I'll give it a try. I know that I should be able to at least get a smoother transition.

I know you helped me and I'm pretty sure you helped others looking at the number of reads here.

Money is always a problem.
I couldn't find the cross section of the head in the Tech section. Can you pinpoint it for me?

I'd like to see if I can use the Heads I now have. I believe that the A12a and the round port A14 heads are the same heads. I pulled the A12a head off of the Nissan remanufactored A12a and the undersides are identical . The casting numbers on the a12a are 728 and 406 and on the A14 990 and 409. There are no other numbers on them.

A better head could be something I can do once I have the car running, but I'm now looking for a transmission and then I have
boby parts to purchase.

thanks for your help.

So my options are?
1) get a GX head
2) Can I machine my A12a/A14 round port head a little to so that there is a smooth transition from the oval port manifold to the round port instead of a brick wall with a round port at the bottom?
3) swap/purchase my oval port manifold for a round port one?
4) I'm open to other options?
