DON_1200 i can guarantee you that once i start the conversion the car will see the street within 2-3months, I can't stand stuff just sitting there and not having anything done to it.

I don't know about spending $18k-$20 just yet haha The place where i'm going to go get it engineered said if they were to do all the work for some one on just the engine conversion (which is all i plan on doing for now) would be about $5k-$10, so now if that with that price it mine it should roughly be around $5k i thinking for me, but i have no doubt that over the years to come and upgrades i'll be doing i will spend something like $18k-$20k

I can only have 1 car in the yard at a time it's all i can fit so i can't go an buy s13 so i'll just buy the engine separate. But my whole plan along was what you also said is to do it in stages i can manage, That's how i think its going to be easier for me And as soon as i'm done with the datsun i'll be building an rb powered 180

My plan is within the next 3-5 buy a datto do the sr20 conversion, upgrade dif and brakes, then in another 5 months or so i'll be doing coil overs and then the last will be the interior that's all i plan on doing, i'll end up doing more but not a full rebuild all at once

Not sure if it's illegal or cops just hate it! a fair few of my mates have modded cars the main thing is i think just no v8's or turbo's, not particularly sure but i'll find out if a cop pulls me over haha I'll probably just go with s13 so the gear box isn't to much of a hassle because i definitely don't feel like cutting any trans tunnels!

Sydeny, so perth is a bit to far for me ahaha Well it is for me to learn and i do like modding but i know next to nothing, so wish this my best mate who's a 4th year mechanic is going to be helping with almost all of it, i've always loved modded cars and wanted to do my own but i don't know a whole lot of the mechanical side of stuff. But the main point of doing myself and not buying one thats already had it all that is the fact that i can look at it and be like yeep i did that. Also i dont like the way other people mod cars, they always seem to take shortcut and other stuff just not the way i'd do it

Unfamilia either way i'm going to be need a DE as im on my green p's, i had a look on the rta website and the have a list of places that do engineering around my area so i'll give them a ring and see what they have to say . I thought s13 engines where to go for this as the are the best fit along with the gearbox?
Beejj- I'm kinda not on a budget but am a little bit as i'm still at home and don't have rent or bills to pay for that's why i've decided to do it soon while i have the money, I was planning on getting a r33 or r34 diff in not a hilux diff and as for the drifting part it's just going to be on a wet track and only til i have enough money for a 180 then that'll become my drift car

Cheers for the reply, I've done a lot of research on it and been looking around this site for the last couple months. I've asked a fair few mates that are mechanics and i'm getting lots of yes's and a lot of no's about if it can be engineered, so when i have the car and before i buy any engines i'll start ringing up places. ca18 was my second choice to go with and a lot of the conversion on this site are complete rebuilds going over everything so it's a tad hard to find what i really need to do. At first all i'm going to do is engine conversion and new diff, then as time go buy i'll be doing much more eg. Coil overs, brake upgrades, etc...
In the end this will be my daily/I'm going to use it for drifting every now and then.
