Good god thank you! Been looking for one for months. I hope it's not sold.

Carbs are already turbo ready all I have to do is rejet, plug float vent tubes, and use boost fuel pressure regulator.

If I change to a more conventional setup I would have to change pistons, cam, carb, intake manifold, turbo manifold, new intercooler. That's a lot more work then just a big J pipe around the tranny. I could be wrong though.

I'm just working with what I have and that's a NA engine with a low compression ratio. About 9/1'i think maybe less Cam card says I require 10.5/1 at least. So I planed the turbo to have low boost in the mid rev range and high boost at 5k+. It might not be the best build but I'll be happy if I can just drive it up a hill with a 60% slope not being at 6k+.

I'm keeping the bike carbs because I've already sent time and money to mod them for my setup and just to try something new. I am also running a hot N/A cam so I am trying to keep manifold pressure down. Also using the header would be a lot cheeper it will cost me about 4x more to make a custom fount mount manifold around the alternator +the carbs. I've decided to attempt to mount the turbo on the other side.

I'm trying to achieve full boost (14psi) at about 5k. With my current head build(h10). But down the road I plan to go h72 ported and by then I plan to push more psi with water/meth injection.

The turbo exhaust will be routed the same way down the firewall then behind the right front tire. Doing this I would expect the heat to build up more and help keep manifold(exhaust) pressure down. Also I plan to wrap each individual pipe leading to the turbo to aid in keeping the exhaust hot.

I'm trying to fit a VF37 to my a12 and the turbo is too big to fit under my side draft bike carbs. Has anyone seen a turbo mounted on the left side of the engine bay on the a series?

I'm thinking of mounting the turbo on the left side where the battery is and routing the turbo using a long tube 4-2 header(1.25" primary 1.75" collected) the under the tranny and up near the fire wall. Of course I'd have to relocate the ignition coil and fuel line also rewire to avoid the heat.

Dose anyone think this would work? And will it spool?

I took this from some Subaru forum if it helps
IHI VF37

(430cfm, 250-325whp, Modification Required)

This is the standard equipment turbocharger used on the JDM V8-V9 Subaru Impreza WRX STI. The VF37 is a twin-scroll turbo that uses a thrust bearing design
Expect to achieve full boost with the proper mods and a quality tune between 2800-3300rpms.

Anyone know if a vf37 turbo would be good on a a12? It's a trust bearing twin scroll turbo. I just found one lying around. Thought about turbo in my bike carb engine with this. Any thoughts or experiences with the VF series or any twin scroll?

I did not drill the pilot jets. Only the idle mix air screw. And I have the stock pump going into a 2 quart(gas stays at half always) can and then going to carbs and using gas tank vent line for return.

I also adjusted the float level and now idles at 12. I also drove the car at night and noticed its a lot more torquey at 180deg(my temp at night) rather than 190+

I know the tuning is not spot on but I just feel like the a12 is under powered. In 1st,2nd,and 3rd gear the car revs easily to 6k. But after 5k it starts to smell like burnt oil a little, so I'm a little scared to rev it past 6k but I did once. 4th has never gone past 5.2k even on the highway and past 4.5k it starts to rev really slow. In 4th at 5.2k the stock speedo reads 90mph but I think it reads higher so I going like what 80? It just seems slow. Maybe I just don't know what 69hp feels like, since it is my first car.

Damm, looking at the card makes me think I did have a a10 cam in my a12 since it had 180 on it. Is this cam good for turbo And my a12 runs at about 185-190f is this too hot?( my factory gauge is broken)

we'll the card says in/ex. 278/284. lift.423" Clearance .014"/.016"
Intake opens 1.0 BTDC closes 37.0 ABDC
Exhaust opens 47.0 BBDC. Closes -5.0 BTDC
LSA 112
Duration at .050". 218/222
Lobe lift .282
(Advance of 4 deg ground in this cam)

We'll I finally had some time to rejet my carbs. I lowered the needle clip so now it is on the 2nd from the bottom and drilled main jets to size 54 I think (1.397mm). I also drilled out the idle mix screws with the same drill bit because I found out that they were clogged because the tip of the screw broke off. Then I I lathe the screw straight and all the same sizes. I also drilled the slide vent hole and cut the slide spring a little. To make the engine rev better.

At first the car ran lean but the idle mix screws were to small so I got rid of the spring and put a oring instead and screw it all the way down. Also just have regular metal mesh for filters on my stacks At the moment. I had some cheep uni's but on decel it pops gas out out the carb and the foam gets wet and restricts flow, I even tried panty hoes and and mesh and it still restricts .....

After that it idles at 10, 14-14.7 on 1/4-1/2 throttle, 13 at 3/4 throttle, and 12 at wot.

I'm leaning towards turbo even more now because of the filter situation. But next is to do a compression test And figure out my real compression ratio.
