Thanks for the info my friend!

So not worth overdoing the pistons as it won't do much at all?

I am going to strip the motor, deck the block and head. And refresh everything before I put it in the car. Just for peace if mind. I like building things right.
So you think where I'm going with my build is sufficient?

Hey boys. Been a minute since I've been on the old forum.
I'm about to build a L20B with a L series 5 speed in my 1200 ute.

My question is does anyone have advice on piston choice etc?
People have suggested the 280zx flattop pistons?
Any advice on head work? Valve grinds, porting etc?
I'm going to be running a comp cam, isky valve springs and retainers, changing over to efi itb set up, LS coil packs, and using a haltech 550 ecu.
Keen to hear any feedback! I have never built a l20b. So find the best way to go about.
Thanks guys
Tommy

That looks cool, just modified standard s13 castor arms? Cut down, threaded inside and then just a big high tensile bolt down the centre.
Would it be easier to get more thread added to the r31 arms?
Thanks for the help ddgonzal

Hey guys, recently converted my front suspension to a s13 set up (coil overs, lca's, knuckles and r31 caster arms) but it looks like my front wheels are not sitting centre anymore? They look like they are sitting well back towards the firewall tub. With guards on they are very much in the rear of the guard? Anyone else had this problem? My one thought off the top of my head was the r31 castor arms as they are standard times and maybe pushing the lca back a bit?
Any help would be great. Thanks
Tom

Thanks Flatto. I have put a lot of hours into the truck over the last 6 months.
I knew it wouldn't go down too well with the die hard datto fans but it's meant to be different.
When I can work out how to upload pics from my phone to the site I will keep everyone updated with the build on here as well.

Thanks champ. As I said it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea.
I'm building it for myself.
Thanks for throwing up that link champ ;)

No idea if that's genuine or just plain sarcasm

Thought it was about time I put up a link to my 1200 ute build.
I am posting all the photos on instagram. Can not be bothered to upload them all.
Please search bagged_datto_project on instagram and come back and post all your feed back on here.

Basic outline of the project:
Datsun 1200 ute
Completely shaved (shaved tailgate, door handles, mirrors, locks, fuel cap, cowling, windscreen wipers, indicators and antenna)
New tray sides and floor
New flat rear cabin wall
New flat custom floor
New custom firewall
All guttering removed and welded up
Removed rear chassis and 12 inch custom notch made and installed
New rear quarters
Sill lip removed and seam welded
Completely new chassis rail front clip made to be supported by a full roll cage
13b rotor and box being installed and completely custom mounted
20 x 10 rear wheels with a shortened hilux diff
And just waiting for my 4 link and my bags to show up from America.

This is as far as I have gotten so far.
Lots more to come.
Please follow me on instagram and post your comments on here.
Not everyone's cup of tea I know but this is my dream build so keep the negativity to yourself if you have any.
All work has been completed by myself. I'm not a professional in anyway but wanted to build a car from scratch by myself. I have taught myself everything as I have built it.

Good to see you finally got the new ca18 in after you blew the last one up :p
Did you fit the new dash too?

I've been trying to contact 09racing of recent. No response yet. Doubt I will get a message from him on here. Hasn't logged in in over a year haha.
But don't you agree the lines on that kit are more aggressive and striking
I think the kits go for about 3.5k in Japan plus postage...
