Call Jock at Bill's Datsun, 503 656-0756 in Portland OR. Last time I was in there about a year ago he said he had a couple of full dealer AC kits still in the boxes.

You do not need to drill out this hole.

On all the A series engines the oil for the rocker assembly is delivered via the middle head bolt hole. On the early engines the oil passage you are looking at goes out the top of the block, into the head and then makes a 90 degree turn into the bolt hole. On the later model A series engines the oil passage makes the entry into the bolt hole in the block instead of the head.

If you look in the side of the block just below where you think the missing hole is you will see a small plug in the side of the block. This is where they drilled the oil passage into the middle head bolt hole.

I went through a similar problem last race weekend. After the breakfast stop on the way to deep river the car could barley move. It would idle fine, and run at full throttle but not run on the lower half of the primary. If you fully opened the primary enough gas would be delivered to run the engine but no gas was delivered at less than half throttle in the primary bore.

This issue was traced down to a partially plugged primary main jet . With high vacuum on the primary vacuum booster the gas would pull through the jet. At part throttle no gas was delivered via the primary main jet.

After removing the jet covers to drain the float bowl and shooting some carb cleaner down the vent tubes and down the air corrector jets to flush out the float bowl the car is running better than ever.

Some crud in the bottom of the float bowl could be causing your intermittent problem. Removing the main jet covers is a nice easy to clean the float bowl without having to remove the carburetor. For obvious safety reasons, only drain the carb when the engine is cool...

You may need a special treatment to get paint to stick to the polycarbonate. A buddy had the bright idea to make the front fender flares on his rally car out of polycarbonate. When we painted the fenders the paint peeled off with the masking tape!

Try this one. The Galway + Clare hill climb from 2005. Same escort starts but the second car out looks like a 1200 sedan...

This didn't happen to me, it happened to a friend back in the '80's.

My friend was road racing a 1600 Datsun roadster in one of the production classes. He was using a tow bar on the roadster and pulling it with a 1200 coupe. I always thought he was nuts for flat towing the roadster with the 1200. He would load the heavy stuff in the 1200 and the lighter stuff in the roadster but the roadster still outweighed the 1200 by a good margin.

On Sunday evening on our way back from a trip to eastern Oregon we saw the 1200 and roadster combo pointing east on the outside eastbound shoulder of I_84 just east of Portland. This was bugging me cause I knew he had raced in Spokane that weekend. If he had a break down on the way home he should have been west bound side.

I gave him a call and found out that he had got cut off in traffic and had to get on the breaks hard. He lost control and did a 180 degree spin while sliding across the grassy median and across both lanes of on coming traffic coming to a stop on the shoulder of the east bound lanes. There was no damage to either car and fortunately no contact with the cars in the east bound lanes. This happened at ~60mph/~100kph.
